Watch Elephants, Rhinos and Giraffe on a Luxury Safari Cruise

AMAWATERWAYS

Imagine sitting on the balcony of your luxury ship, watching the sun set, as an elephant splashes about in the water in front of you!

AmaWaterways' unique African adventures sail through the Chobe National Park, home to one of Africa's densest populations of wildlife. These trips which combine a safari river cruise with a choice of land extensions typically sell out months in advance, but thanks to additional capacity being added in February, October and November, it's not too late to book a trip departing in 2026.

The intimate Zambezi Queen accommodates just 28 guests and has been specially designed to offer suites with floor to ceiling windows and private balconies, giving unobstructed views of the river and landscape. As she drifts along the river, animals perceive no threat, affording guests with once-in-a-lifetime up-close game experiences. With additional excursions by boat and on land included, this trip provides plenty of opportunities to encounter elephants, giraffes, leopards, zebras and buffaloes in their natural habitat.

Each of the four-night safari cruises are combined with a choice of land arrangements to create itineraries ranging from 9 to 16 nights and incorporating sights such as Cape Town's Table Mountain and Victoria Falls. Animal lovers can even book a once in a lifetime land extension to visit the mountain gorillas in Rwanda.

Prices start from £10,946 per person for the 9 night Discover Africa itinerary combining three nights in Cape Town with the four night cruise in a Balcony Suite and two nights at Victoria Falls. The price is valid for the 20 November 2026 departure and includes return flights from London or Manchester.

AmaWaterways' cruises on the Chobe River cruises include all onboard dining, complimentary wine, beer and local spirits, a Chobe National Park safari, exclusive picnic in the National Park, private boat safaris along the river bank and a visit to an African Village. Inclusions for the land arrangements vary according to the itinerary.
