SeaLink Western Australia (WA) is proud to announce its sponsorship of the inaugural International Ice Bath Day, set to take place on Saturday, 1 March 2025. Building on the chilling success of January 2024's Guinness World Record attempt for the largest group ice bath, SeaLink WA is partnering again with 'One Life Live It' to champion mental health and wellness through cold exposure therapy.
This invigorating event will bring up to 1,000 participants to Leighton Beach, North Fremantle, to take on the challenge of getting as many people as possible through a 3-minute ice bath immersion in a 20-minute period, with the aim of setting another global milestone. Over 16,000 kilograms of ice will cool 32 baths, each holding 12 people at a time, bringing the water down to below 6 degrees Celsius, creating an unforgettable experience for all involved.
A Global Movement with Local Impact
The inaugural International Ice Bath Day is set to make waves across the globe, with events confirmed in 16 countries, including the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Norway, Canada, Peru, and the United States. While Western Australia serves as the epicentre, participants everywhere are encouraged to join by hosting their own events or simply taking an ice bath, cold shower, or refreshing dip in a natural waterway.
All proceeds from the event will support mental health charities worldwide, with Western Australia's chosen charity being Beyond Blue, a leading organisation supporting Australians affected by anxiety, depression, and suicide.
Sustainability in Focus
Aligned with SeaLink's values, the event is designed to minimise its environmental footprint. A donation to Greenfleet Australia will offset the day's carbon emissions, with trees planted in native habitats across the country to leave a lasting legacy.
Why This Event Matters
SeaLink WA is deeply committed to supporting the community it serves, aligning with its mission to enhance lives and build connections.
Leycester Cory, General Manager of SeaLink Western Australia, stated, “As a company that connects people to incredible destinations, we also recognise the importance of connection to overall well-being. International Ice Bath Day is a fantastic initiative that not only brings people together but also highlights the benefits of resilience, mental strength, and community support. We're proud to be part of an event that champions both mental health awareness and the strength of the WA spirit.”
Paige Myles, Sales and Marketing Manager for SeaLink WA, added, “Supporting the community we operate in and giving back to our SeaLink customers and team is important to us. The benefits experienced by our team and partners who took part in the Guinness World Record attempt were second to none, with many now including cold exposure in their daily lives. We can't wait to take part and support this unique inaugural event.”
Mental health is a core focus for SeaLink, both internally for its employees and externally for the broader community. This event not only raises awareness about depression and anxiety but also highlights the scientifically proven benefits of breathwork and cold exposure therapy.
Mark Hughes, founder of One Life Live It, shared, “Our mission is to have people around the world partake in this annual event to bring together communities and raise awareness for proven strategies to benefit people suffering with depression and anxiety, along with the myriad of other benefits that breathwork and cold exposure can bring. To have SeaLink Western Australia support us as our main sponsor for this inaugural event means the world.”
