Peninsula Hotel Group

The Peninsula, which has for decades embraced a continuous commitment to ground-breaking art in its properties around the world, announced a new chapter in that longstanding kinship. Beginning in 2025, the legendary hotel brand will launch a series of contemporary art installations curated in partnership with London's illustrious Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), debuting with an exhibit at The Peninsula Hong Kong, to launch in time for Art Basel Hong Kong 2025.

The new collaboration, which brings together two iconic institutions renowned for their shared heritage and dedication to excellence, seeks to raise the bar for world-class art experiences in the luxury hotel space.

“We could not be more thrilled to work with the V&A, the world's preeminent collective champion of the creative arts,” said Gareth Roberts, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of The Peninsula's parent company, The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited. “In many ways, this partnership feels like the natural next step for our 'Art in Resonance' programme, through which we strive to embrace boundary-pushing art immersion for our guests and the public at large.”

Expanding the reach of trailblazing art
Through their multi-year agreement, The Peninsula and the V&A aim to collaboratively broaden public exposure to works of innovative contemporary art, with the V&A lending their curatorial knowledge to the hotel group's acclaimed 'Art in Resonance' programme, bringing in a fresh perspective and point of view, as well as a truly global access to emerging and mid-career artists, who will directly benefit from the programme.

The collaboration will commission specially created works for the V&A and various Peninsula locations, allowing the 'Art in Resonance' commissions to reach new audiences.

The first iteration of the collaborative endeavour will debut in late March 2025, with a new 'Art in Resonance' installation at The Peninsula's flagship Hong Kong property. For this exhibit, which will coincide with Art Basel Hong Kong 2025, The Peninsula and the V&A will present a newly commissioned work, curated by Dr Xiaoxin Li, the V&A's Curator, Asia Department, which will be prominently displayed in the hotel's grand Lobby, and complemented by two other new commissions by 'Art in Resonance' creators, in a new exhibition that will present the hotel's heritage façade and classic interiors in dazzling new light, directly accessible for guests and the public to enjoy.

“The creative vision shared by these selected artists perfectly embodies the spirit of our new partnership,” said Tim Reeve, Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer of the V&A. “Working with The Peninsula to create a greater reach for these works reflects the V&A's mission to champion design and creativity in all its forms, advance cultural knowledge, and inspire makers, creators and innovators everywhere.”
