The Ghan Experience from the Red Centre to Melbourne Southbank

Journey Beyond

Journey Beyond, Australia's largest experiential tourism group in partnership with Tourism NT, is
inviting curious individuals to step away from the busy streets of Melbourne, and transport
themselves to the Northern Territory with The Ghan Experience.

For the very first time, an exciting new activation, The Ghan Experience, will be at Queensbridge
Square overlooking the Yarra River along Southbank Promenade. This unique experience is on for a
strictly limited time - 21 to 27 January – capitalising on the large crowds visiting the city centre as
part of this year's Australian Open.

The Ghan Experience showcases Journey Beyond's commitment to going further and taking travellers
beyond.

As guests step inside the train carriage-themed activation, they'll be whisked away to the majestic
Top End and Red Centre in the Northern Territory. Visitors will be immersed in a sensory experience
with the sights, sounds, and scents of the outback, capturing what the journey aboard The Ghan is all
about. On board, guests will gain an insight into the incredible off-train experiences on offer,
including a cruise through the beautiful Nitmiluk Gorge in the Top End, exploring the ancient West
MacDonnell Ranges in the stunning Red Centre, and much more.

This first-person perspective evokes the thrill and wonder of embarking on this remarkable
adventure for the very first time. Passengers can also Go Beyond the ordinary and discover the
Northern Territory for real with a range of offers for 2025 travel, including Fly Free and Free Darwin
City stays, as well as exclusive pre-release and advance purchase pricing for the 2026 Season Launch
for Ghan Expedition journeys and Outback Spirit Holiday Packages across Kakadu, Uluru, Arnhem
Land and more.

Justine Lally, Executive General Manager - Marketing at Journey Beyond says, “Amidst Melbourne's
bustling Australian Open week, locals and visitors can escape the city by being transported from
Southbank to the Top End and Red Centre in the Northern Territory. We encourage you to explore The
Ghan experience and escape the hustle of the city to an adventure onboard The Ghan.”
“Many are curious about what extended train travel and life onboard The Ghan is like, and whether
it's right for them. This is a chance for visitors to experience it firsthand before making the decision to
book.” Lally added.

Tourism NT Chief Marketing Officer Tony Quarmby hoped The Ghan Activation would inspire
travellers of all ages to make the Northern Territory their next holiday destination.
“We're thrilled to be partnering with Journey Beyond on this exciting activation, which showcases
the incredible tourism experiences on offer as part of The Ghan's journey through the Territory,” he
said.

“With our spectacular landscapes, rich cultural heritage and extraordinary experiences, visiting the
Northern Territory as part of a journey on The Ghan is a must for anyone looking for a holiday that is
different in every sense.”
