Sydney – Wednesday 15 January, 2025. The Sydney Opera House today announced a wide-ranging program of activities for locals and visitors to celebrate Lunar New Year and help ring in the Year of the Snake.

Available throughout Lunar New Year - and all year seven days a week - Mandarin, Korean and Japanese-language tours explore the architectural significance of the Opera House, tailored to provide a deeper cultural and historical insight for visitors.
Lunar New Year Dinner in the Concert Hall Northern Foyer with Luke Nguyen
7 February
Australian chef, restaurateur and television presenter Luke Nguyen will host an exclusive Lunar New Year dinner in the Opera House's Concert Hall Northern Foyer fusing modern Australian flavours with traditional Vietnamese cuisine.
29 January – 16 February
The popular harbourside eatery, House Canteen, is celebrating Lunar New Year with traditional lion dancing on select dates and a vibrant selection of pan-Asian food and drink specials.
Special Lunar New Year Menu at Midden by Mark Olive
29 January – 4 February
Inspired by the Year of the Snake, the acclaimed First Nation's restaurant, Midden by Mark Olive, will present a specially curated Lunar New Year menu. The menu blends native Australian ingredients with traditional festive dishes and feature themed cocktails exclusive to Lunar New Year.
Lunar New Year performances at the Opera House

The Opera House is hosting a large number of international performers across the Lunar New Year period, including performances from the Hong Kong String Orchestra, Sydney Chinese Orchestra, Australia Dunhuang Arts Academy, Wuhan Conservatory of Music and Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

The Opera House retail store is selling an exclusive and limited-edition Sydney Opera House Lunar New Year coin and embossed red envelope, featuring a snake with the same chevron pattern that adorns the Opera House sails. Available to purchase in-store and online for $19.95.
