KBC PR & Marketing has been chosen by the Missouri Division of Tourism to serve as its UK in-country representative, responsible for travel trade sales, marketing and public relations efforts.
Situated at the heart of the North American continent, Missouri combines strong elements of the American West and South, and is a key part of Historic Route 66 which celebrates its centenary in 2026. North America specialist KBC will focus on enhancing the state's visibility in the UK, engaging consumers and building strong relationships with travel trade partners and the media.
“The UK is a key target market for Missouri and its tourism businesses as we build towards a real moment in the international spotlight next year,” said Stephen Foutes, Director of the Missouri Division of Tourism.
“KBC's expertise in the market, understanding of our strategic needs and strong connections with tour operators, agents, journalists and content creators will be invaluable as we encourage more UK travellers to discover what Missouri has to offer.”
Often termed the 'Gateway to the West', Missouri boasts bustling metropolitan areas including Kansas City and St. Louis, as well as picturesque small towns, world-class jazz and blues, distinctive dining and a range of State Parks and National Historic Landmarks. In addition to the Historic Route 66 centenary, 2026 will also see Kansas City hosting FIFA World Cup matches and the 150th anniversary of the publication of Mark Twain's classic novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, which is set in a fictional Missouri town.
KBC, fronted by Director of Trade Representation Lisa Cooper and Director of PR David Ezra, has more than 25 years' experience in promoting US and Canadian tourism destinations and experiences. The agency's portfolio includes the New York State Division of Tourism, Utah Office of Tourism, the Great American West region, Destination British Columbia, Travel Alberta, Rocky Mountaineer and the U.S. Travel Association.
“Missouri boasts some globally-recognized icons - 300+ miles of Historic Route 66 traverse the state, while the Mississippi River runs the length of its eastern border, overlooked by St Louis' world-famous Gateway Arch – but we are looking forward to shining a spotlight on the entire state and telling some of the lesser-known stories as well,” said Cooper.
