Cultural Attractions of Australia

Cultural Attractions of Australia, CAOA, is pleased to announce an exciting new collection of itineraries for Australian capital cities and beyond which are designed to enhance and complement the curated experiences offered by its members. Part of Tourism Australia's Signature Experiences of Australia programme, CAOA is a collective of 19 of this country's landmark attractions from leading galleries and museums, to sporting venues and historic sites and its premium behind-the-scenes tours provide an immersive experience of Australian culture. The new itineraries are an ideal way for both domestic and international travellers to layer their travels with unique cultural experiences within Australia.

Whether it's taking in First Nations collections at QAGOMA, a backstage tour of Sydney Opera House, sporting history at Adelaide Oval and Melbourne Cricket Ground or historic landmarks such as Fremantle Prison or Port Arthur Historic Site, there is something for every interest. Many of the experiences also include opportunities to enjoy food and wine that showcase local produce or the best of Australia's culinary delights and ingredients.

The itineraries have been produced for travel designers to assist in creating Australian travel arrangements for their clients and to serve as inspiration for unique and immersive travel experiences.

Nine different itineraries are offered from 1-to-3-days and include the following: 

In South Australia, Adelaide – Legends of Sport and Wine. This 2-day itinerary spotlights Cultural Attractions Adelaide Oval Legend's Tour. On the first day this also features a visit Adelaide Central Market, Adelaide Botanic Gardens, and the city's East End for the best food and wine experiences. On the second day, you visit the South Australian Museum, the Art Gallery of South Australia and the Penfolds Magill Estate.

In Victoria, a 2-day itinerary to Ballarat – City Built on Gold centres on Cultural Attractions 24 Hours in Sovereign Hill allowing you to absorb the fascinating history of this former gold rush town on the first day. The second day, includes a visit to the recently opened Centre of Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades highlighting this country's unique arts and trades. It also allows you to enjoy the elegant, historic town itself with a visit to the Art Gallery of Ballarat, Australia's largest regional art gallery and following, a stroll around Lake Wendouree and the Ballarat Botanic Gardens.

In Queensland, Brisbane – First Artists Culture and Laid Back Charm is a 2-day itinerary devoted to the city's exceptional galleries such as QAGOMA and performing arts companies including a performance by the Queensland Ballet. It also recommends a visit to Brisbane Powerhouse, a leisurely lunch at the lively riverside precinct of Howard Smith Wharves, and a climb to Story Bridge for stunning city views.

In the ACT, 'Canberra – Art, Sport and Australian Heritage,' encompasses 2 days with behind-the-scenes experiences with Cultural Attractions. For the first day it features a refreshing walk around Lake Burley Griffin, together with cultural diversions such as a visit to the National Library and the National Museum of Australia for Cultural Attractions Big Histories tour. For the second day it showcases the Australian Institute of Sport, the AIS Insider's Gold Tour.

Also in Canberra is a second itinerary of 1 day, Canberra – Stories of a Nation focuses on Cultural Attractions experiences – Australian Parliament House Signature Tour and the Australian War Memorial The Soul of the Nation.

In WA, a 2-day itinerary 'Fremantle – Cultural Heritage in the West' covers an inspiring Cultural Attractions tour of artworks and paintings Fremantle Prison Art Tour, and also adds the Western Australian Maritime Museum and Fremantle markets to an experience of this port city.

In Tasmania, a 3-day itinerary 'Hobart and the Tasman Peninsula Cultural' dials up the fun with Cultural Attractions Mona Like a Rockstar experience on the first day. The following day, it suggests a scenic drive to Port Arthur Historic Site for Cultural Attractions Wheel of Fate experience. Additionally, taking time to enjoy the lively culinary scene of North Hobart. For the third day it suggests a visit to the World-Heritage listed Cascades Female Factory to learn of the story of convict women and girls and also a drive to Mt Wellington.

In Melbourne, a 3-day itinerary 'Melbourne – Three Great Loves: Art, Sport, Food' spotlights the world-renowned National Gallery of Victoria as a must-visit. It also highlights the city's sporting culture and Cultural Attractions, Melbourne Cricket Ground, MCG Premium Access Tour. It also highlights some of the best areas to dine and taking in a performance at the Princess Theatre or the Regent Theatre.

In Sydney, a fabulous 3-day itinerary encompasses Cultural Attractions of Australia experiences starting with a Sydney Opera House Backstage Tour and a visit to the Australian National Maritime Museum for its fascinating Hidden Gems and Ancient Artefacts on Day 1. A morning walking tour of the historic Rocks and in the afternoon Cultural Attractions Behind-the-scenes at Bangarra Dance Theatre and in the evening a performance by Opera Australia at Sydney Opera House for Day 2. For Day 3 in Sydney, it features Cultural Attractions Become the Artist at the Art Gallery of New South Wales teamed with a leisurely stroll through the Botanic Gardens to Mrs Macquarie's Chair.
