Love is in the air! St. Johann in Tirol launches dating event for skiers - and takes romantic dinners to the next level (literally).

Snow-sure pistes, cosy huts, a down-to-earth charm and tons of activities to keep the kids busy. St. Johann in Tirol has been a long-term winter favourite for families and those looking for a more chilled skiing experience. It’s on the smaller side (40 km of slopes), but still has everything winter sports fans could wish for: state-of-the-art lifts, ski schools, family-owned hotels and traditional mountain restaurants dishing out Gröstl, Kaiserschmarren and all the other Austrian delights.

But there’s more: This winter season, the resort also targets the “single and ready to mingle” crowd, offering skiers a chance to find love while out and about on the slopes. And those who’ve already matched (on or away from the lift) can enjoy a romantic date night in a gondola.

Find your new love on the lift

St. Johann’s new event Lift & Love kicks off on 10 January 2025 and runs every Friday until Valentine’s Day. Singles are invited to turn up at the Jodlalm valley station from 10 AM (throughout the day at the hour) and pin a heart sticker on their jacket. They’ll then get paired up with another participant for the ride on the two-seater chairlift. Little treats and question cards will (hopefully) help break the ice.

Lift & Love is a chance to meet new people away from the apps, hit the slopes together and – if things go well – take the conversation further at a cosy hut. And while a love match can never be guaranteed, you might just have a fun day out and end up with a new skiing buddy.

Enjoy a romantic dinner in a gondola

Those already happily paired up can surprise their significant other with a romantic dinner up in the air (27 February - 13 März 2025). Guests will be welcomed with a flying buffet and live music at the Eichenhof valley station before hopping into a gondola. There, they’ll enjoy an exquisite four-course-dinner prepared by the chefs of Wirtshaus Post and Penzinghof, matched with wines selected by Annemarie Foidl, president of the Austrian Wine Union and manager of the Angerer Alm. Cheese plates and a digestif round off the evening back at the lift station.

Hit the slopes early – and save money

Needless to say winter holidays in St. Johann in Tirol aren’t all about love matches. Those just looking for a skiing break in the Austrian Alps can hit the pistes from 7 December 2024. Early arrivers are rewarded with discounted passes: Skiers heading to the resort before Christmas can bag day tickets for just € 39 (7 – 20 December 2024), while those starting the new year on a sporty note can do so for € 49 (13 – 31 January 2025). Regular adult day tickets are € 59, with discounts available for multi-day passes, children and teenagers.

Skiers can also upgrade to the SuperSkiCard, giving access to 22 resorts and 2,815 km of slopes in Salzburg and the Kitzbühel Alps.
