World Expeditions UK

BRITISH ISLES

England's Coast to Coast
WHY: Work is currently underway to bring the popular Coast to Coast route up to National Trail standards. The project, which formally started in November 2022, is due to be completed by October 2025, so the route can officially be declared a National Trail next year.
> BOOK THE TRIP: The Highlights of the Coast to Coast Walk with Walkers' Britain is a new, distilled version of Wainwright's celebrated walk that will have you crossing Britain under your own steam over just 12 days; more options on the Coast to Coast also available

Cornwall
WHY: April 2025 will see the long-awaited cinema release of the film adaptation of bestselling memoir 'The Salt Path'. The movie, about a couple who embark on a yearlong trek on the South West Coast Path, England's longest footpath, has been shot on location in southwestern England.
> BOOK THE TRIP: Take in England's dramatic coastline on the South West Coastal Path: Mevagissey to Plymouth with Walkers' Britain; more sections of the South West Coastal Path also available, including the segment from its official start in Minehead

Channel Islands
WHY: May 2025 marks the 80th Liberation Day of the Channel Islands, the only part of the British Isles occupied by German forces during World War II. Eighty years on, the coastline still bears testament to this time, dotted with well-preserved fortifications built by German soldiers.
> BOOK THE TRIP: See how the German Occupation has shaped the islands on Guernsey Islands - Channel Island Way with Walkers' Britain and discover its lasting legacy with visits to sites such as the German Military Underground Hospital and the German Occupation Museum

Pennine Way
WHY: Steeped in the region's history, the Pennine Way has legendary status in the annals of British walking, as it was England's first National Trail. Crossing some of the country's finest upland scenery, it opened in April 1965, paving the way for public access to some of England's wildest landscapes.
> BOOK THE TRIP: Mark 60 years of the iconic trail by walking The Full Pennine Way with Walkers' Britain, passing through three national parks and crossing some of the loneliest and loveliest high walking terrain in England; alternatively, you can book the northern and southern sections separately

Yorkshire Dales
WHY: 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the death of James Alfred Wight, the vet who wrote about his experiences in the Yorkshire Dales as James Herriot. With 'All Creatures Great and Small' having returned to TV screens for a fifth season – and a sixth season officially confirmed – 2025 is a great time to explore the landscapes that inspired him.
> BOOK THE TRIP: The James Herriot Way with Walkers' Britain is the perfect trip for fans of the much-loved TV series about a rural vet in the Yorkshire Dales, which is based on James Herriot's real-life memoirs and features stories about animals and their owners

EUROPE

The Dolomites
WHY: The Dolomites need little introduction to fans of the outdoors; but with all eyes on northern Italy in February 2026 as the host of the next Winter Olympics (Milano Cortina 2026), 2025 is a great time to explore the region before even more crowds discover this spectacular mountain range.
> BOOK THE TRIP: Joining in lively Cortina d' Ampezzo, the Dolomites Guided Walk with UTracks is a stunning circuit through the dramatic spires of the Dolomites in northern Italy, with every day on the walk offering a new scene

Amsterdam
WHY: On 27 October 2025 the Dutch capital will mark its 750th birthday. The anniversary year will be all about Amsterdam's history and future: visitors will find something happening daily, from small-scale neighbourhood initiatives to the best the city offers in terms of music, theatre, art and culture.
> BOOK THE TRIP: Travel around the Netherlands the way locals do on the Classic Holland Cycle with UTracks, whose circular route starts and finishes in Amsterdam, so you can make the most of the anniversary year celebrations

Tallinn
WHY: Having celebrated last year as the 'European Green Capital 2023', Tallinn will welcome 2025 with another distinction: the 'European Capital of Sport'. Estonia's capital earned the title thanks to its “unique sport urban planning design, lots of sport participation [...] and top quality events.”
> BOOK THE TRIP: Starting in Tallinn, discover the contrasting characters of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania on a Treasures of the Baltic Self Guided Cycle with UTracks as you pedal at your own pace between the three Baltic States

La Palma
WHY: Less known compared to some other Canary Islands, rugged La Palma is ideal for a walking holiday. The island suffered its longest and most damaging volcanic eruption in 2021 but the hiking trails have recently safely reopened and walkers can walk across old lava flows.
> BOOK THE TRIP: Follow the 'Route of the Volcanoes', see why the whole island, a World Biosphere Reserve, has been described a “miniature continent” and take advantage of its unrivalled location for stargazing on the new La Palma Island Walking trip with Walkers' Britain

Via Francigena
WHY: 2025 is a special year for modern pilgrims who will visit Italy, as it is celebrated by the Catholic Church as a Jubilee Year (Holy Year). As part of the preparations, the Italian capital is undergoing an extensive facelift overhauling tourist sites and transport hubs, as well as many parks and streets.
> BOOK THE TRIP: Arrive into Rome on foot as you walk the last section of the Via Francigena: Orvieto to Rome with UTracks; the 1,200-mile route dates back to the 11th century when pilgrims travelled to Italy from Canterbury and across Europe

Vienna
WHY: Vienna celebrates 200 years of Johann Strauss in 2025. You can expect traditional Viennese Johann Strauss music and contemporary experiments, as well as an enormous range of themes, artistic performances and city-wide events, starting on 1 January and culminating on 31 December.
