The Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) through the Pacific Tourism Data Initiative is pleased to announce the release of several key International Visitor Survey (IVS) and Community Attitudes Survey (CAS) reports, covering the 10 Pacific Island Countries from 2023 to 2024. These reports provide critical insights into visitor trends, market preferences, and the overall tourism landscape in the Pacific region.

The reports are part of SPTO's ongoing efforts to support the sustainable development and growth of tourism in the Pacific by offering valuable data to governments, stakeholders, and tourism operators. The detailed findings offer a roadmap for enhancing tourism products and services across the region.

The reports include:

      • July – September 2023

SPTO CEO Chris Cocker emphasized the importance of these reports in shaping the future of tourism in the Pacific, stating, “These reports provide a wealth of data that is critical for the sustainable development of our tourism sector. They allow us to better understand visitor behaviours and preferences, helping our member countries to tailor their offerings and remain competitive in a rapidly changing global tourism market.”

He added that the information gathered not only assists in improving tourism products but also in aligning with regional strategies, such as the 2050 Blue Pacific Strategy, which aims to foster long-term sustainability across all sectors, including tourism.

The IVS and CAS reports have been shared with respective national tourism offices and are available for stakeholders to download to inform decision-making and strategy development.

The PTDI is a research project funded by the New Zealand Government, specifically designed to collect and report on tourism information from 10 Pacific Island countries -Cook Islands, Niue, PNG, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, Kiribati, Timor Leste, and FSM-Yap. PTDI is geared towards supporting evidence-based planning and decision-making. It includes the production of a bi-annual International Visitor Survey (IVS), an annual Business Confidence Index (BCI), and an annual Community Attitude Survey (CAS) report. These reports provide invaluable insights into community awareness and attitudes towards tourism.
