Political Tours is taking 3 group tours from the UK, Australia and Europe to experience the drama of the US Election this October (Tours run Oct 30 to Nov 6).
The reporter-led trips will take in key swing states in the last week of the campaign, including Michigan and Pennsylvania, and end in Washington DC.
Travellers will meet with voters, attend rallies and be there on election day on November 5 as America heads to the polls. Participants on previous tours have seen Trump, Biden, and Obama speak at rallies.
The company, which was founded by former New York Times and BBC reporter Nicholas Wood, has run trips to the US since 2012. Wood will be joined in US by the veteran BBC correspondent Owen Bennett-Jones and Washington based reporter, Malcolm Brown, (Three tours in total).
“This is an election on a knife-edge, and likewise our tour will be edgy – taking advantage of events as they happen, giving people a real feel for what Americans are thinking in the run up to election day,” said Nicholas Wood, Political Tours' founder.
“For anyone who wants to understand why and how Americans might vote for Trump again, or for Kamala, this is an ideal opportunity.”
The groups will see a wide range of experts, pollsters and US media. All three trips end in Washington DC on Nov 6, the day after election day.
Political Tours aims to give travellers a better understanding of issues and places in the news. The company, which was founded in 2011, has covered every major US election since 2012 as well as the midterms and the Iowa Caucuses.
Previously the company has run trips across the Middle East, Ukraine and Russia (until 2022). Recent trips include Colombia's peace-process, Cyprus North & South, and South Africa. In 2025 their trips will include Mexico, Uganda and Taiwan.
