As spring moves into full gear, Lake Burley Griffin is set to blossom with vibrant colours and an abundance of outdoor activities on and around the lake, as one of Australia's most well-known lakes proudly celebrates 60 years.
Whether it's getting cosy and raising the heart rate on the water with Love Boats new pedal boats, grabbing an e-scooter and taking a spin around the lake, or spending the afternoon with friends in an electric picnic boat , there is so much to do around Lake Burley Griffin.

Electric Picnic Boats
Available 7 days a week
Rent an electric picnic boat for a special occasion, a peaceful picnic, or for an outing with friends. With no boat licence or boating experience required, GoBoat is an affordable, premium activity to enjoy a different perspective of the surrounding scenery.
Pedal Boats by Love Boats
Available 7 days a week
Cruise by Canberra's main landmarks along the breezy waters of Lake Burley Griffin in Love Boat's new pedal boats. Expect a fun and hassle-free adventure for the whole family.
The Classic Loop
Complete the 5km 'bridge to bridge' loop around the central basin of the lake or opt to zoom around on an e-scooter for hire at the visitors centre, but don't forget to stop and admire the iconic sights along the way.
Margot Bar
Monday - Sunday 7am-2pm & Friday - Sunday 12pm until evening
Stop for a refreshment at Margot Bar, a small wine and espresso bar showcasing the very best of Canberra with an iconic setting and european flair. Whether you pick up an espresso for your morning walk, or relax into a spring evening with a glass of hand picked wine and cheese plate, this charming bar provides the vibes.
Stand Up Paddle
Available Thursday - Sunday
Learn to stand up paddle on the majestic and enclosed flat water of Lake Burley Griffin. With all the equipment provided, simply show up with a group of friends for a 60 minute session and be paddling around in no time.
National Gallery of Australia
Available 7 days a week, exhibition on show until 24 August 2025, book a free ticket ahead of visiting
Stop by one of Australia's iconic landmarks like the National Gallery of Australia. Catch Ever Present: First Peoples Art of Australia as it returns to Canberra for its final showing. A celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, the exhibition includes over 260 works from more than 200 artists with interlinked themes around ancestors, creators, community and family.
Nautical Market
19th October
Little Burley Market's nautical themed market pays homage to Lake Burley Griffin on its 60th anniversary. With a theme focused on boats and sailing, plus a visit from the National Zoo & Aquarium, the nautical market is family focused, with face painting, lawn games and arts and crafts to keep little ones entertained all day long.
