The Peninsula London is delighted to announce an exceptional collaboration with McLaren Automotive, acclaimed British-Nigerian artist and designer Yinka Ilori MBE, and Art of Wishes, which will see a McLaren Artura be transformed into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece in support of Make-A-Wish.
On 14 and 15 October, during Frieze London 2024, an annual contemporary arts fair, the courtyard of The Peninsula London in Belgravia will be transformed into a live art installation, where Yinka Ilori will work on an exclusive and original design, creating a unique automotive masterpiece.
Following this artistic showcase, the car will be on display at The Peninsula London for two weeks, before embarking on a three-month journey through the UK, where it will be shown at McLaren showrooms from Glasgow to the New Forest. The car’s hand-painted bonnet will then be auctioned by Art of Wishes.
Art of Wishes, a fundraising initiative founded by Batia Ofer in 2017 works to bring the art world together to raise funds for Make-A-Wish. Proceeds from this auction will enable Make-A-Wish to grant wishes to children with life threatening medical conditions.
“Showcasing outstanding automotive design and supporting British artistic creativity are principles The Peninsula London holds dear,” said Rolf Buehlmann, Managing Director of The Peninsula London. “Frieze London presented a unique opportunity to engage with our community through an event that embodies both excitement and artistry.”
The Peninsula London invites art aficionados, car enthusiasts, press, guests and visitors to experience this unique fusion of innovation, luxury, and creativity, in what promises to be one of the highlights of the Frieze London calendar.
