Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is proud to announce the launch of its 2024 Kilo of Kindness initiative. For over 70 years, Mövenpick has been anchored in the spirit of generosity, and this year, more than 75 hotels and resorts across 30 countries will come together to support their local communities through meaningful acts of kindness.
Now in its ninth year, the Kilo of Kindness initiative invites guests, Heartists, and local communities to contribute food items, clothing, and educational supplies, which will be distributed to local charity partners. Each contribution reflects Mövenpick's belief that even the smallest act of generosity can create a significant and lasting impact.
From 14 October to 15 November 2024, Mövenpick invites members of the community to partake in the initiative by donating food, clothing, school supplies, toys, linen, furniture, books, sports equipment and second-hand electrical equipment such as computers, at participating hotels around the world.
A legacy of generosity
Since 1948, Mövenpick has embraced a culture of generosity inspired by its visionary founder, Ueli Prager, who believed in doing ordinary things in an extraordinary way. The Kilo of Kindness initiative was launched in 2015 and has since impacted thousands of lives worldwide, with over 90,000kg of donations collected for those in need. The initiative serves as a powerful reminder that generosity knows no boundaries, uniting people and communities in a shared purpose to make the world a better place.
“Mövenpick's Kilo of Kindness campaign embodies our unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in the communities we serve,” said Benoît Racle, Global President of Premium Brands at Accor. “Our legacy is built on the belief that generosity has the power to transform lives, and through this initiative, we see how small, thoughtful acts can create a ripple effect, bringing people together and uplifting those in need. By fostering genuine human connections, we're not just providing support; we're inspiring others to carry forward this spirit of giving. This tradition of kindness is more than a moment; it's a movement that reflects the very heart of who we are as a brand.”
Celebrating kindness around the world
Kilo of Kindness reflects the core principles of all Mövenpick hotels; to cultivate connections, inspire an ethos and practice of food for good; and encourage the coming together of people and communities. The choice of charities around the world reflects these Mövenpick brand traits, reinforcing the role of global hospitality brands to go beyond their hotel walls. Through Kilo of Kindness, Mövenpick Heartists, guests, and communities come together for those in need, making a meaningful impact by gathering donations and contributions that nourish lives. The donations will support the work of organisations around the world which celebrate food for good, supporting people with nutritious meals and essential food supplies, as well as initiatives that inspire connection and discovery through educational materials, books, and art supplies. Each participating hotel selects a local charity partner, ensuring that there is a positive impact in the neighbouring community.
This year, Mövenpick hotels across Australia and New Zealand are supporting the initiative in the following ways.
