MICHELIN Guide has recognised 33 outstanding hotels in Canada with One, Two, and Three Key distinctions including many leading properties in British Columbia. Tofino's Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge was one of only ten locations in North America to achieve the Three Key designation.
Similar to the Michelin Stars that indicate the best culinary experiences, the Michelin Keys recognise places that significantly add to a traveller's experience, with each evaluated and judged excellent in five categories: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the guest experience in a particular setting.
Three stars signify a hotel at which guests have an extraordinary stay, two correspond to an exceptional stay and one is awarded for a very special stay.
The list features 11 of the following BC hotels:
Three Keys
- Clayoquot Wilderness Resort, Tofino
Two Keys
- Wickaninnish Inn, Tofino
- Fairmont Chateau Whistler
- Four Seasons Resort Whistler
- Rosewood Hotel Georgia, Vancouver
One Key
- Fairmont Empress Hotel, Victoria
- Magnolia Hotel & Spa, Victoria
- Nita Lake Lodge, Whistler
- Wedgewood Hotel, Whistler
- Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver
- Loden Hotel, Vancouver
