SeaLink North Queensland is honoured to partner with Townsville RSL to offer special whale watching tours for over 150 veterans and their families in August 2024. This initiative reflects SeaLink's ongoing commitment to supporting those who have served our country and giving back to the local community.
Darren Spearman, General Manager of SeaLink North Queensland, expressed the company's enthusiasm for the event: "SeaLink is incredibly proud to host veterans and their families on a unique whale watching experience in such a picturesque setting. This tour is our way of giving back to those who have sacrificed so much for our country and demonstrating our deep appreciation for their service."
The Townsville RSL has a long-standing tradition of organising monthly activities for veterans and their families, offering them opportunities to try new experiences and explore different aspects of Townsville and its surroundings. This year's whale watching tour is the largest activity planned, and the RSL is excited to offer this unforgettable experience aboard one of SeaLink's world-class ferries.
A spokesperson for Townsville RSL commented, "We are thrilled to have partnered with SeaLink to provide this opportunity for our veterans and their families. These events are not just about seeing the sights; they are about building connections, forming new relationships, and recognising the unsung heroes—the families and community who support our veterans through thick and thin."
The response from the veteran community has been overwhelming, with over 450 applicants for the tour. In response, SeaLink has generously offered discounted seats on two additional whale watching tours for RSL veterans and their families, scheduled for the 23rd and 30th of August. Those interested are encouraged to contact the Townsville RSL Secretary promptly to secure their spots.
SeaLink has a strong history of supporting veterans, including offering concession rates to White and Gold Card members and participating in activities for ANZAC and Remembrance Days. This whale watching experience is another step in SeaLink's ongoing efforts to honour and support the veteran community in Townsville.
