SOUTH KOREAN LOTTE HOTELS & RESORTS INTRODUCES: L7 LIFESTYLE BRAND TO THE USA WITH CHICAGO HOTEL OFFICIALLY OPENED IN JUNE 2024
L7 HOTELS BY LOTTE unveils 191 guestrooms, an art program featuring works by local, and Korean-American contemporary artists, wellness-centric amenities, and signature ground-floor restaurant PERILLA Korean American Steakhouse
LONDON, UK (June 2024) – Bringing one of Asia's most prominent and beloved hotel brands to the USA for the very first time, South Korea's largest hotel group LOTTE HOTELS AND RESORTS introduces vibrant, lifestyle-centric L7 HOTEL to downtown Chicago (225 N. Wabash at E Wacker Pl). The L7 Chicago by Lotte officially opened on the 13th June, on the heels of LOTTE HOTELS AND RESORTS' 50th anniversary, the hotel joins the group's portfolio of 34 existing properties across four key hotel brands worldwide. Designed by award-winning design firm AvroKO, the aesthetics of the property's 191 guestrooms (including 22 suites), lobby, and restaurant will reflect both its brand origins in Korea as well as the surrounding vibrant city of Chicago. LOTTE HOTELS AND RESORTS currently operates three other properties in the Americas, LOTTE NEW YORK PALACE, LOTTE HOTEL SEATTLE, and LOTTE HOTEL GUAM.
The Korean-born L7 brand was pivotal in launching the concept of a 'lifestyle' hotel to the Asian hospitality market, from introducing signature skincare amenities to in-room wellness products, and L7's famously warm and gracious hospitality. With expansion into the US, the brand will offer guests a taste of its roots with a local flair. The LOTTE team sees incredible opportunity for L7 in Chicago as the first US location of the L7 brand as the city is one of the largest tourism destinations in the USA, famous for its architecture, culture, food and jazz, and also booming industries of venture capital and start-ups.
Located just steps from the Chicago Riverwalk and the iconic Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue, L7 HOTELS BY LOTTE is close proximity to the city's tourist attractions and business district along with unique wellness-focused amenities, a curated contemporary art program featuring Chicagoan, Korean, and Korean-American artists, and PERILLA Korean American Steakhouse from acclaimed local restaurateurs Executive Chef Andrew Lim and Partners Thomas Oh and Alvin Kang.
Upon entering L7 HOTELS BY LOTTE, hotel guests arriving for check-in are greeted with a signature gesture of Korean hospitality - a warm towel - while surrounded by an inviting palette of light oak - and contemporary art that adds a vivid touch of color to the lobby. To the right of the entrance is an expansive lounge with two story ceilings and windows, and welcoming seating.
To the left of the lobby entrance is multi-leveled PERILLA Korean American Steakhouse, Chef Lim's modern interpretation of the classic Chicago steakhouse, inspired by traditional Korean flavors emphasizing the highest quality ingredients. A new concept from the MICHELIN-recognized PERILLA brand, the restaurant pays homage to the city's iconic steakhouse scene while introducing locals and visitors to a new classic dining concept through the lens of a Korean chef's perspective. Designed to be an energetic and explorative dining experience, the restaurant features custom grill tables surrounded by comfortable banquette seating, an intimate bar, and a chef's counter that offers a one-of-a-kind tasting menu.
AvroKO's design leans into L7 HOTELS' brand heritage in South Korea throughout its features, including drawing inspiration from the country's traditional textile technique, “Jogakbo,” which can be seen in the custom-designed items throughout the property - from the handcrafted pattern motifs in the carpet to the shade of the guest room's table lamp, which offer a warm glow through their patterned translucent paper shades, mimicking the patchwork style of the technique. Everything in the hallways and guestrooms was reimagined, with a light, soft, and warm color palette providing a gentle, intimate feeling. The design offers guests a peaceful and comfortable setting away from the busy city where they can rest and relax, and large window seats in many rooms are a perch to do just that.
