loveholidays has teamed up with TV life change therapists, Nik and Eva Speakman, to give nervous fliers the chance to join an exclusive fear of flying group therapy session in Manchester later this month.
Five fearful fliers will be selected to join the session and will each receive a free holiday worth £1000 from the online travel agent, so they can put their newfound confidence to the test.
Aerophobes can apply for one of the five spots up for grabs on loveholidays' website, where they will need to answer a short questionnaire about their fear of flying. Entries close at midnight on 14th July and T&Cs apply.
The day-long session will take place on 31st July at Manchester's Runway Visitor Park, situated next to one of the UK's busiest airports. People from across the country are encouraged to apply, with loveholidays covering travel expenses of up to £200 for attendees.
The Speakmans will work with participants to explore root causes and triggers, offer practical coping strategies and build confidence through gradual exposure.
Commenting on the event, Al Murray, Chief Marketing Officer at loveholidays says: “With aerophobia affecting as many as one in 20 people in the UK, we're excited to team up with the Speakmans to open the world to five Brits who are currently grounded by their fear of flying.
“As peak travel season ramps up, we know that the fear of flying can hold many people back from enjoying their dream holidays. That's why we're thrilled to play a part in helping five members of the public to overcome their fear, before jetting off on a free holiday to celebrate!”
Nik and Eva Speakman add: “Research shows that being afraid of flying is much more common than many of us think. The great news is, no one is born with a phobia, phobias are learned behaviours and therefore it is possible to completely overcome them.
“We're excited to be offering this life changing experience with loveholidays and encourage you to enter to win one of the five places at our exclusive event if your fear of flying is holding you back.”
Known as aerophobia or aviophobia, the fear of flying is one of the most common phobias, with one in 20 Brits reporting they suffer from it*. This fear can range from mild unease to severe anxiety that prevents them from flying altogether.
