La Maison 1888, the signature fine-dining restaurant at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, was honoured with two awards at the MICHELIN Guide awards for Vietnam: a prestigious One Star rating for the restaurant, and a special Sommelier award recognising Mr. Toan Nguyen, the resort's Assistant Sommelier.
La Maison 1888 is the only restaurant in Danang to receive One Star and one of only 7 in all of Vietnam.
“Ever since it opened, La Maison 1888 has strived to reach the peak of culinary excellence. So, to receive this important accolade marks a major milestone in our journey. Thank you and congratulations to our entire team for this exceptional achievement. I would especially like to thank Chef Pierre Gagnaire, whose vision, skill and expertise has guided our success. We couldn't be prouder, and this honour truly establishes our resort as a dining destination,” said Seif Hamdy, General Manager, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.
Set in an enchanting French Indochine-style mansion created by Bill Bensley, the acclaimed architect and interior designer, La Maison 1888 was the first establishment in Vietnam overseen by a MICHELIN- starred chef – first Michel Roux and then Pierre Gagnaire. The cuisine is unmistakably French in flavour but infused with distinct Vietnamese influences, creating an epicurean experience found nowhere else in Vietnam. Throughout July, La Maison 1888 will be paying tribute to Pierre Gagnaire with a special celebratory MICHELIN menu featuring some of this culinary icon's favourite dishes!

Leading the culinary direction at La Maison 1888 alongside Gagnaire is Chef de Cuisine Florian Stein, who previously delighted diners at the famous Le Chambard restaurant in the Alsace region of France, known for his creativity, skill and precision. Every gastronomic experience at La Maison 1888 is paired with an inspired selection of wines, curated by Beverage Manager and sommelier Jimmy Chang. The Wine Cellar at the restaurant has been honoured with the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator for seven consecutive years, with many rare vintages that cannot be found anywhere else in the country.
Toan Nguyen has worked as Assistant Sommelier for a year, and MICHELIN honoured him with one of three special awards highlighting young talent.

The MICHELIN star is the latest in a series of recognition for La Maison 1888, which has been elevating the standard of gastronomy in Vietnam ever since it opened 11 years ago. This fine-dining destination has previously been named as one of the “Top 10 World's Best Restaurants” by CNN, among the “Top 10 Most Beautiful Restaurants in the World” by Architectural Digest, and the “World's Leading Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant” in the World Travel Awards.
First introduced in 1900, the MICHELIN Guide celebrates the world's best restaurants based on five key criteria: the personality of the chef's cuisine, the harmony of flavours, mastery of cooking techniques, quality of ingredients, and consistency over time and across the menu. The inaugural MICHELIN Guide for Danang follows the launch of guides for Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in 2023, and reflects how Vietnam is rising to prominence on the global gastronomic scene.
