Visitors to Costa Rica now have an alternative way to travel between La Fortuna and the southern Nicoya Peninsula thanks to a new flight from SANSA Airways. The flight from La Fortuna to Cobano on a 14-seater Cessna Grand Caravan takes just 35 minutes, as opposed to 6 hours via land transfer.
Ready to capitalise on this new route are sister properties Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa and Hotel Nantipa. The former located in the shadow of the Arenal Volcano in the rainforest just outside La Fortuna is known for being home to the largest collection of natural hot springs in the country. Meanwhile Nantipa's location right on the Pacific Ocean in emerging hotspot Santa Teresa is also in the heart of one of the world's five blue zones.
Mario Mikowski, Director for both properties, says: 'Traditionally people coming to enjoy our Pura Vida in Costa Rica follow a well-trodden path. Having a connection between these two locations opens up a new way to access a lesser-known destination along the coast as part of this journey. Our two properties really complement each other offering a very different insight into the experience and culture. We hope that visitors take advantage of this route to explore a bit deeper into our incredible country.”
The flight which started on 1st May, departs at 9am from La Fortuna Airport and is currently on sale until the end of October.
An example package with Audley Travel offers an eight-night stay in Costa Rica including the new connection from £4,100 per person (based on two travelling in October 2024). The price includes three nights each in Tabacon and Nantipa and two nights in San Jose. The price also includes international and domestic flights, transfers and excursions.
