Programme of Top Michelin Starred Chefs and Sustainable Culinary Event in Mauritius

Heritage Resorts & Golf in Mauritius has unveiled an exciting culinary programme for 2024, that includes special gastronomic interludes by several Michelin Star chefs across the year, as well as its third annual Sustainable Culinary Week. Eleven Michelin Starred chefs, including the likes of French chefs Thibault Sombardlier, Björn Freitag, Frederic Van Tricht and Camille Saint M’Leux will craft unique gourmet experiences at the resort’s restaurants by utilising locally sourced delicacies from the Indian Ocean’s land and sea. The menus are set to emphasize Heritage Resorts’ sustainable and zero-waste cooking philosophies and highlight produce and ingredients from local farms in every dish.

The initiative enables guests to plan and maximise their stay in Mauritius, taking full advantage of the exceptional culinary moments offered by Heritage Resorts & Golf, as well as reinforcing the group’s reputation as a premier gourmet destination. Additionally, Heritage Resorts & Golf will host its third annual Sustainable Culinary Week on 5th – 15th October. This year, Chef Thibaut Spiwack will be the special guest. With one Michelin star and one green star, Spiwack will chair the jury and bring his creative, daring and responsible touch to the competition, all characteristics found in his cuisine at his Parisian restaurant – Anona. Guests have the option of staying at two hotels to experience the gastronomic events – Heritage Le Telfair and the all-inclusive Heritage Awali. Both are located in Bel Ombre in southern Mauritius on a 2,500 hectare domain that incorporates a beautiful 19th century Chateau, a UNESCO Biosphere nature reserve, two 18-hole golf courses and a trendy beach club.

Enjoy Michelin Star Dining in the Algarve

For the first time ever, Portugal has its own Michelin Guide with the Algarve boasting the most Michelin Star restaurants in any Portuguese region- eight in total. There are few places that can match the Algarve’s culinary offering as the region is packed with its exclusive offering of fine dining as well as its passion for local delights, renowned as a gastronomic paradise for fish and shellfish.

Restaurants that have been honoured with Michelin Stars include Vista Restaurant, at the Bela Vista Hotel in Almancil. Head chef João Oliviera was awarded the Chef de L’Avenir prize by International Gastronomy Academy which recognises the work of promising young chefs, which led to him receiving one Michelin star. The experience begins with appetisers in the kitchen before heading into the elegant dining room as guests chose between two menus; ‘Vista’ exclusively based around locally caught fish and seafood, and the vegetarian menu, ‘Terra’. Oliviera’s menus create a perfect blend of flavours and aromas providing surprises for all five senses, as he leads a kitchen that is imaginative and chic where guests leave with unforgettable memories.

The recently renovated Ocean Restaurant at Vila Vita Parc offers spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean with the combination of sublime food and an atmosphere of casual elegance. The stunning restaurant has held two Michelin Stars since 2011 – a tribute to executive chef Hans Neuner and his team. Neuner was named Portugal’s chef of the year in 2009 and 2012 from his remarkable gastronomic creations based on the best local ingredients that curate his seasonal menus. The chef invites guests to sail among charismatic dishes in search of the richness of new flavours, revealing his obsession for detail. Neuner and his talented team ensure guests have an unforgettable evening with seamless service, a cue to the inspiration behind Ocean’s philosophy.
