Mondrian & Hyde Ibiza, two of Ibiza's most exciting hotel openings for 2024, continue to elevate Cala Llonga into the island's next gastronomical hotspot for locals and visitors alike seeking to explore the bohemian East of the island. The hotels will introduce two new restaurants in 2024 - Niko, an understated Japanese restaurant, and Sonrojo, a Mediterranean chiringuito. The openings join Mondrian and Hyde's already impressive portfolio, now totalling seven dining options; each boasting its own unique concept and atmosphere, including Latin restaurant Cuyo, cosmopolitan-chic Sun & Moon, poolside hangouts Bungalow and Hyde Beach, and the coffee and pastry bar known as The Perq.
Niko is Cala Llonga's debut Japanese restaurant and will elevate Ibiza's thriving sushi scene with an understated dining concept. An ode to sophistication and authenticity, Niko is centred on traditional practices, premium ingredients, exceptional presentation and a strong reverence for the environment and nature. Relaxed chiringuito Sonrojo is Cala Llonga's most authentic beachside dining experience. Celebrating the quintessential Mediterranean lifestyle, diners can expect a laidback menu with signature paella and fresh fish from the local coastal region. The restaurants will also host a line-up of curated events across the season, from culinary takeovers by globally renowned chefs, to intimae sets by the island's best musicians.
NIKO
Opening 15th May 2024
Niko is a refined Japanese dining experience where the traditional artistry of Japanese cuisine is showcased in an ambient setting. Expert chefs prepare dishes at a large open sushi counter, immersing diners in the craft and precision of each dish. Mindful of the environment and keeping with traditional cooking techniques, Niko's menu adapts seasonally, using ingredients sourced from Ibiza's local farms and fish markets. The menu is complemented by a curated selection of organic wines and small-batch traditional sake. Renowned design studio Cuarto Interior combines the nuances of understated Japanese design with a relaxed Mediterranean essence to create a modern space telling of Ibiza's gastronomic evolution.
Continuing to blend cultures, Niko's unique ambience is centred on the Japanese artistic entertainment form, Kyabaré. Alongside eclectic mixes of electronic beats, Niko's Kyabaré offers a modern interpretation of this traditional Japanese entertainment form, fusing vibrant cabaret-style tradition with Japan's fervent mid-century jazz scene. Reminiscent of Japan's jazz kissas - listening bars which played global jazz and inspired a new generation of artists - Niko's Kyabaré embraces East-meets-West musical experiences, blending contemporary Balearic sounds and smooth jazz with a Japanese flair.
