Newmarket Holidays has expanded its Solo Traveller Collection with an 11-day escorted tour through the enchanting southern landscapes of India.

The group tour, India's South - Kerala & Madurai's Temples, is a meticulously crafted adventure that is exclusively for solo travellers and explores the forested uplands, plantations of the Western Ghats, and the sprawling urban centres of Madurai and Kochi.

Guests start by travelling east to Munnar, through mountains that are home to free-roaming elephants, where they explore the history of tea with visits to a plantation and museum. The next leg continues to Madurai, with highlights that include a guided rickshaw ride through the fascinating old city, a culinary walking tour of local markets, a visit to an elaborate 17th century palace, and an evening at the world-famous Sri Meenakshi Temple to enjoy the towering gopurams and the extraordinary colourful, musical, 'Going to Bed' ceremony.

Continuing eastwards to Periyar National Park, guests can join a nature hike, take a lake cruise to look for wildlife that includes Bengal tigers, and visit a local spice plantation. The tour closes with a languid cruise through untouched Kerala on-board a traditional, thatch roofed Kettuvallam houseboat, before returning to Kochi, with a guided tour to enjoy iconic sites that include the city's ancient Chinese fishing nets.

Prices start from £3,249 per person (saving £350 until 30 April 2024), which includes eight nights' half-board hotel stays, one night's full-board lodging on a Kettuvallam, excursions, transfers, and return flights to Kochi.
