IMM Australia 2024 proves in-person meetings key to the future of tourism

Sydney (23 February 2024) — TravMedia's twelfth annual IMM (International Media Marketplace) Australia connected 200 Australian and New Zealand travel media with 200 Public Relations professionals representing 150 international travel brands at ICC Sydney. It was a new record number of exhibitors for IMM Australia. Participants held over 3,200 prescheduled, one-on-one appointments and over 4.5 hours of open networking across multiple catered events.

The global event series is held annually in six countries worldwide. 

"The bar is raised year after year by the quality and quantity of destinations and media in attendance. The energy in the room was electric with the number of exchanges taking place,” observed Nick Wayland, TravMedia's CEO and Founder.

The IMM Australia sit-down luncheon included two speakers. Maya Lange, Vice President of Global Marketing at Destination BC, kicked off the luncheon with the launch of their new Rainforest to Rockies road trip campaign.

Expedia Group's Darren Karshagen, Senior Director Market Management, Oceania, shared highlights from their 'Unpack '24 The Trends in Travel' report, including Tour Tourism, Destination Dupes and Dry Tripping.

Destination NSW amplified the afternoon networking break with a photo booth activation and competition. 

Stay22 provided the delegate lanyards, andBeyond the media bags and Coral Expeditions the reusable water bottles.

The day finished with a cocktail reception hosted by Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour, where all delegates, including Keynote Speaker Richard Quest, commended the information shared and connections made during the two days' programming.

The TravMedia Summit Australia held the day prior, convened 350 media and industry thought leaders to discuss the latest industry trends. One hundred eighty of Australia and New Zealand's top travel writers, editors, influencers and broadcast journalists and more than 170 international travel and tourism PRs and VIPs shared a thought-provoking day of networking and learning at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney. 

TravMedia's collaboration with the Australian Society of Travel Writers continues to be a source of strength and value.

A record 150 international travel and tourism brands participated in IMM Australia 2024. The delegation included 39 Australian travel and tourism products, 27 hotels and resorts, 31 North American DMOs, 18 tour operators, OTAs and travel technology brands, six cruise and car hire companies, 14 Asian destinations, five European and Middle East delegates, and seven New Zealand travel and tourism brands.
