St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) is celebrating its record-breaking year! PIE also broke individual monthly records in January, June, July, September, October, and November. July 2023 was PIE's biggest month in its history with 279,622 passengers.
Airport Director Tom Jewsbury said “We have an incredible team at PIE including our airport employees and volunteers, airlines, concession businesses, Transportation Security Administration, and FAA staff. Our airlines generated tremendous growth in destinations and passengers and everyone on Team PIE works together to create a “Go Easy” customer experience and a safe and efficient airport.”
Allegiant has been the force behind PIE's growth offering the most non-stop destinations (59) in the Tampa Bay area. As one of its top three airports (in passengers) in its 124-airport system, PIE has enjoyed tremendous growth over the years, breaking records for five consecutive years before the 2020 pandemic, and then again in 2022.
Passengers also enjoy consistently low airfare, with PIE being in the top twenty of lowest domestic average airfare consistently out of over 400 airports (2018-2022, U.S. Department of Transportation Bureau of Transportation Statistics). Low-cost and non-stop service is the key to PIE's success.
