THE BEST BEACH CLUBS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA

During the last few years, alongside significant hotel growth, Calvia has been a magnet for new Mediterranean beach clubs including the fun-loving scandi inspired Cook's Club Calvia Beach just a ten-minute drive from Calvia town. Aimed at the laid-back adult crowd, the club plays low-fi music throughout the early evening and is a cost-effective option for visitors to enjoy their evening.

This summer, Calvia welcomed two new beach clubs such as El Chaval de S'esponja and Beso Beach Mallorca, the second one opened as part of the first Zel hotel, part of Meliá Hotels International and under ownership of the Mallorca-born and 22-time Grand Slam champion, Rafael Nadal. Beso Beach (meaning 'kiss') is focused on excellent gastronomy by providing guests with quality Mediterranean cuisine in a fun and casual atmosphere.

MANDARIN ORIENTAL PUNTA NEGRA (2025)

The Mandarin Oriental Group is set to open a new 131-key beach resort in Mallorca in 2025. The hotel, created by Spanish architect firm HKS, will be located in Calvia occupying three hectares, including gardens and impressive clifftops. TOURISM TRANSFORMATION

In August 2023, an initiative was signed aiming to reuse 100% of the water from hotel establishments to irrigate of farmland and green areas within the municipality.

The agreement, signed between the public company Calviá2000 and St Regis Mardavall, has allowed for the saving of over 16 million litres of drinking water per year and is an excellent example of public-private collaboration. The collaboration is expected to be expanded to other establishments to irrigate gardens, agricultural areas, and golf courses, preserving a significant quantity of drinking water from the public water system.

A considerable effort has also been applied to the adaptation of the beaches, both in terms of environmental health and in the maintenance and improvement of services. Following a national review this year, Calvià has been awarded 15 Q flags, the most out of any municipality in the Balearic Islands and the third most in all of Spain.  A fifth of the beach territories awarded with Q flags in Mallorca are in Calvià.

Q Flags are awarded by the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE) to beaches and water-sports facilities which hold up to certain international ISO quality standards, regarding their environmental health, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of facilities and services.
