Germany-based roadsurfer camper van travel expert is expanding in the North American market 2024, with station openings in San Francisco and Las Vegas, and launching in the Canadian market with openings in Vancouver and Calgary, it was announced this week in Munich by Co-founder and CEO Markus Dickhardt. The new locations are scheduled to open in the spring of 2024, in time for the coming road trip season. The company's first U.S. station opened in Los Angeles in June of 2022 with a fleet of 50 rental vans; a number that will be growing to about 250 vehicles in the North American Market.
Rental locations are conveniently located near major airports, perfect for European and North American travelers embarking on road trips through some of North America's most iconic landscapes.
Adding to the currently available “Liberty Lodge” and the “Couple Condo” class B van models, roadsurfer will offer the “Family Freedom” alcove vehicle, as well as its first all-wheel offroad camper, the “Horizon Hopper”.
The lifestyle-oriented brand plans to also introduce flexible one-way rentals and very competitive pricing.
Worldwide, roadsurfer plans to open more than 20 new rental locations in 2024, growing its European network to 70 locations in 14 countries, plus the planned North America stations. The company's total fleet is expected to grow to about 7800 vehicles, making roadsurfer the worldwide market leader. For the coming year, roadsurfer is forecasting a gross revenue of Euro 200 million.
Co-founder Dr. Susanne Dieckhardt: “The expansion in the North American market is a big step towards offering a wide camper van rental network to international outdoor travelers. After starting with our first U.S. station in Los Angeles in 2022, we see enormous growth potential, and opening the two new locations in San Francisco and Las Vegas is a logical next step. With Canada, we are adding another spectacular destination to our roadsurfer map.”
In addition to its core business of RV and camper van rentals, the company offers "roadsurfer spots," an app-based booking platform with access to over 10,000 individual private camping spots (currently available in Europe only).
