Singapore - 25 October 2023 - Record-breaking attendance at TravMedia's eighth annual International Media Marketplace (IMM) Asia is a clear sign that the travel industry is not only back but bigger than ever. More than 275 media, PRs and travel industry leaders attended the event, which included over 2,200 prescheduled, one-on-one appointments between travel brands and editors, writers and influencers, with hundreds of feature stories, media famils and partnership opportunities forged for the year ahead.
TravMedia's IMM Asia connected 110 travel media from across Southeast Asia, Greater China, Australia, South Korea, Japan and India with 92 international tourism brands. The event is unrivalled in Asia for media networking. Global delegates shared insights into the best experiences, new hotels and destinations that will entice more people to travel. Between meetings, there were 4.5 hours of open networking events to connect and build long-lasting relationships.
“We've been hosting IMM events around the world for over a decade. After a few difficult years, I am happy to say that the travel industry has recovered, with today's event highlighting the one thing people won't give up on is travel, even as living costs are rising,” said Nick Wayland, TravMedia's CEO & Founder. “From speaking to participants, it is obvious that confidence in the future of travel is high. The buzz in the room was palpable as people connected with old friends and made exciting plans for the year ahead.”
“TravMedia's IMM was designed to bring travel brands and travel media together to foster relationships, and the fact that we get bigger each year is a testament to the importance of in-person meetings. Storytelling is essential in selling destinations and experiences to travellers from around the world, and no other event brings together the people who create travel content, produce those stories, and directly share the travel dream with millions of people globally,” Wayland continued. “While there are other travel industry events for buyers and sellers of travel products, our event enables travel writers and editors to fill their calendars for the year ahead by connecting them with the world's hottest hotels, destinations, cruise lines, airlines, tour operators and attractions all in one day.”
Headline sponsor Sentosa Development Corporation used the occasion to showcase their Where Discovery Never Ends activation, transporting delegates to the island with a Sentosa Metaverse, video and photo wall.
Accor sponsored the IMM Cocktail Party for the fifth year, held poolside at the brand-new Pullman Singapore Hill Street.
The Tourism New Zealand coffee cart kept energy levels high for scheduled appointments.
Sponsor andBeyond provided the media delegate gift bags.
