The Gambia Experience is excited to introduce its brand-new birding tours for the upcoming winter, led by celebrity wildlife TV presenter and photographer, Megan McCubbin.

Based at the small and friendly Bakotu Hotel with its bird deck overlooking Kotu Creek, there's a choice of a three and four night tour, each with differing itineraries, on January 23rd and 26th (2024). Taking in The Gambia's birding hotspots, Megan will be accompanied by The Gambia's own highly acclaimed guide, Malick Suso, also an expert in spotting and identifying the wide variety of colourful birds for which the destination is renowned.

Growing up learning about wildlife and conservation from her stepfather, Chris Packham, and joining his previous tours in The Gambia, along with her studies in zoology at the University of Liverpool, Megan's career in the field has gone from strength to strength and includes co-hosting the BBC's Springwatch and Autumnwatch programmes along with presenting on Animal Park.

Commenting on the tours Megan said:

I have visited the country countless times since the age of five and am always left speechless by the diversity of its bird life - from giant kingfishers to long-tailed nightjars, and everything in between!
