CELEBRATIONS

PARADOR DE CUENCA JOINS SPAIN'S CAPITAL OF GASTRONOMY CELEBRATIONS

Parador de Cuenca, a hotel located in Cuenca, Eastern Spain, celebrated its 30th anniversary since its opening in 1993, coinciding with the city being named Spain's Capital of Gastronomy for 2023. Situated in a beautifully restored 16th-century convent, it is a monument in itself; and with its strategic city-centre location, it's the perfect base for exploring Cuenca and its foodie agenda. Must-try gastronomic delights for travellers include Manchego cheese or Morteruelo, a traditional pork liver pâté.

NEW ART COLLECTION DISPLAYED IN REFURBISHED PARADOR DE LERMA TO CELEBRATE 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Parador de Lerma in Burgos, a 17th century palace built on top of a medieval castle, has undergone a major refurbishment in celebration of its 20th anniversary. The baroque-style palace's rich history as home to the Duke of Lerma, an avid art collector, is celebrated with a new art collection featuring contemporary pieces from Rubén Rodrigo, Lino Lago, and José Manuel Ballester, adding new perspectives to classical works. The Bolaños courtyard has also been renovated to create a warmer and more dynamic space for guests to enjoy.

NEW EXPERIENCES

NEW CYCLING PACKAGE LAUNCHED TO EXPLORE SPAIN BY BIKE

For cycling lovers, Paradores has adapted 26 hotels across its network to offer guests a new cycling experience with a broad range of tailored cycle routes for seasoned cyclists or aficionados for exploring the local area. The selected hotels have bike storage on-site or bikes available to rent nearby for convenience.

NEW ECO-TOURISM EXPERIENCES OFFERED TO MORE PARADORES HOTELS

Paradores has expanded its "Nature for the Senses" project to more hotels, including Parador de Cervera de Pisuerga, Costa da Morte, and Vic-Sau in Northern Spain, and Guadalupe, in the West. Created in collaboration with the Global Nature Foundation, the project promotes sustainable and responsible ecotourism to benefit lesser-known areas of Spain. Guests can experience local culture and nature through new activities, such as kayaking near the Cascada del Ézaro waterfall or exploring the UNESCO Villuercas Ibores Jara Geopark.
