Known as one of London's most iconic and awe-inspiring landmarks, St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London is set to celebrate its 150th anniversary on the 5th May with a series of celebrations to honour this milestone. In 1873, the building originally opened as the Midland Grand Hotel, with its neo-Gothic façade designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, creating an architectural wonderland, exemplifying High Victorian Gothic design in its most dramatic sense.
Today, the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London welcomes guests to a world where modern amenities mingle with the extravagance of rail's golden age. Following a multi-million-pound renovation in 2011, the 245-room hotel showcases glorious Gothic Revival metalwork, gold leaf ceilings, hand-stenciled wall designs, and the legendary grand staircase offering guests the chance to celebrate the glitz and glamour of the Victorian era. Located steps away from the British capital's buzzing King's Cross area, famous for its outstanding architecture, destination restaurants and vibrant cultural scene.
To mark 150 years of St. Pancras, the hotel has launched a limited-edition celebratory afternoon tea which will be served in The Hansom and inspired by the hotel's heritage and British traditions. Guests can indulge in a selection of sandwiches, scones, and sweet delights, including a St. Pancras Battenburg and lemon curd éclair. To add to the celebrations, guests can enjoy a glass of Champagne with their afternoon tea or choose from a wide variety of rare teas.
The St. Pancras Spa, a Victorian inspired haven of tranquility hidden away and built into the hotel's original steam kitchen, has launched a limited-edition offer in partnership with pioneering luxury skincare brand, 111SKIN to celebrate the 150th anniversary. The offer features a revitalising rose gold facial, access to the spa facilities and a luxury eye mask gift to take home and is priced at £150. Decorated with traditional tiling and great brick archways, the spa boasts six treatment rooms including a couple's suite, a 24-hour gym, a therapeutic steam room, traditional saunas and a relaxation pool with hydro loungers, every treatment focuses on the rejuvenation of the mind and the body.
On 18th May, in celebration of Renaissance Hotel's Global Day of Discovery and the building's anniversary, St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London will launch a historical tour, inviting guests to experience a behind-the-scenes exclusive one hour tour of the hotel and its storied history. Guided by a hotel expert, guests will embark on a journey of exploration from the iconic staircase to the Chamber Suites and more.
The hotel's General Manager, Ed White says 'It is an honour to be celebrating such a milestone anniversary for the iconic St. Pancras building. I would like to take this time to thank our incredibly dedicated team at St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London and our wonderful guests for all their support over the years, and we look forward to our exciting celebrations across the year.'
To tie in with the celebrations, the property has welcomed The Midland Grand Dining Room which opened on 2nd May, the latest opening from restaurateur and hotelier, Harry Handelsman. In collaboration with critically-acclaimed chef Patrick Powell and interior designer Hugo Toro, the new restaurant pays tribute to the building's heyday, via both a design and menu which will have firm French influences, honouring the reputation of the area as a gateway to Paris and Europe whilst also becoming a culinary destination within the creative hub which is King's Cross. Named after Midland Grand Hotel, the Gothic Revival 19th century hotel which originally occupied the building and the Dining & Coffee Room which operated in the same space upon the hotel's opening in 1873.
