Capricorn Coast Southern Great Barrier Reef

The Capricorn Coast in Central Queensland offers not only picture perfect white sandy beaches, glorious sun-drenched days, and the magical Southern Great Barrier Reef, it is also home to some ultimate award-winning street art.

Speckled across the destination are unique and quirky creative masterpieces that reflect the essence of the Capricorn Coast's community and identity.

Here are just a few of our favourites...

1. Robin the Reef Roamer

Celebrating our location on the Southern Great Barrier Reef, Robin is a constant reminder to get out and explore our underwater paradise.

Where: Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre, Scenic Highway, Yeppoon

Artist: Bill and Luke Gannon, Out There Co.

2. Yeppoon Town Centre Car Park

Here you will find more than just a car park. In fact, you'll come across a pup in a stroller, a table tennis match and a lionfish plastered across the walls. You could even snag a pic in front of a mural of our region's music stars, Busby Marou.

Where: Corner of Hill Street and Queen Street, Yeppoon

Artist: Bill and Luke Gannon, Out There Co.

3. Kraken Unleashed

Kraken Unleashed is a giant tentacled beast painted on the roadside retaining wall in Barry Street, Yeppoon. It plays off an equally large tentacled 3D cephalopod named the Keppel Kraken that forms the centrepiece of the children's playground on the Yeppoon Foreshore.

Where: Barry Street, Yeppoon

Artist: Martin Schlick, Mash Designs

4. Let's Get Crabby in a Big Way

Let's Get Crabby is an eye-catching collection of soldier crab sculptures by a local artist. These larger-than-life crustaceans can be found mid way along the walking path on Lammermoor Beach, and won Bronze in the Best Landmark Sculpture for the 2022 Australian Street Art Awards.

Where: Lammermoor Beach

Artist: Brendon Tohill

5. Beach Party

Beach Party is painted across the walls of the public amenities block adjacent to the Emu Park Surf Life Saving Club. This artwork won the Best Amusing Street Art category in the 2019 Australian Street Art Awards.

Where: Emu Park Main Beach

Artist: Simon McLean

More Beach Party artwork is also found on the walls of the Yeppoon Surf Life Saving Club on Yeppoon Main Beach.

6. Yeppoon Lagoon and Skate Park

There's a wealth of street art spotting opportunities at the Yeppoon Lagoon and nearby Skate Park. See the bright, friendly faces painted on the walls of the Skate Park amenities block before wandering over to the Yeppoon Lagoon - the ideal spot for a refreshing swim overlooking the water. Here, you can spot the pink turtles on the screen or pelicans on patrol.

Where: Lagoon Place, Yeppoon

Artists: Out There Co and Place Design Group

7. Cockatoos

Pose for a photo in front of one of Emu Park's most striking murals. The artpiece is a water, wind and energy abstract, with a lot of bright colours. Not a single paint brush was used in the entire painting - it was all spray painted.

Where: Corner of Pattison and Hill Street, Emu Park

Artist: Rosie Woods, London
