2022 has been a banner year for sustainable travel company Much Better Adventures as it continues to meet the growing desire for unique outdoor experiences in some of the world's most remote locations.
The B-Corp certified company enjoyed its most successful year to date in 2022, almost tripling revenue since 2019.
Much Better Adventures has bounced back from the pandemic stronger than most thanks to a collection of experiences that cater for both travellers seeking adventurous travel minus the mileage, and those wishing to explore further afield. Co-founder Sam Bruce also cites the company's focus on customer care, including refunding travellers during the pandemic, as well as its positive impact approach to travel as factors in Much Better Adventures' growth.
Despite ongoing pressures on the industry, including the cost of living crisis, a survey by Much Better Adventures found that 83% of travellers* expect to spend the same or more on holidays over the next few years. And with Google Trends showing a 43% increase in searches for “adventure travel” over the past 12 months (compared to the previous year's search volume), the company has set itself the target of booking one million days of adventure by 2026.
Since the company's launch in 2016, customers from more than 70 countries have travelled with Much Better Adventures, selecting from 160-plus active outdoor trips that have been designed to reduce the environmental impact of travel, support local economies, and finance conservation projects.
Much Better Adventures is set to build on the success of 2022 by launching a fresh collection of trips to destinations in the UK, the Balkans, Madeira, Italy, Egypt, Turkey, Uganda, Cambodia, Mexico, Bolivia, Brazil, Guatemala, the Andes, Patagonia, Philippines, and Tajikistan.
“After two years of disruption, travellers are desperate for adventure again, and they want to experience it in extreme and remote natural environments,” says Much Better Adventures Co-founder, Sam Bruce. “Not only that, but they want these experiences, where they learn new skills or about new cultures, to have a positive impact on the communities and places they're visiting. And we can do much more of this vital work by booking a million days of adventure by 2026.”
