November 2022 - Castelfalfi Golf Club, with over 9,400 metres of fairways bordered by groves and olive trees, is now open year-round. The quiet hills in the ancient borgo of Castelfalfi form a scenic backdrop to tee-off on the largest golf course in Tuscany.
Designed by award-winning duo Wilfred Moroder from Italy and Rainer Preißmann from Germany, the visual aesthetic of the course is only enhanced by its outstanding sustainability credentials. The course was designed to preserve its most precious asset: the natural landscape. 'Green irrigation' is achieved by collecting the rainwater from the course's man-made lakes, leading the course to become GEO Certified®, one of the most desirable and prestigious awards in the golf world.
The course works in harmony with the surrounding landscape, with 27 holes across two courses, designed for both professionals and amateur players. The Mountain Course, one of the most difficult in Italy, challenges even the most experienced players, whilst the Lake Course, which follows the gentle curvature of the Tuscan hills, is an approachable course for players of all levels.
Now open year-round, Castelfalfi Golf Club will hold a programme of events for golf enthusiasts. The flagship service is the Golf Academy, led by professionals and ideal for players of all abilities. Players can receive coaching before taking on either of the courses, with tailored lessons against the unforgettable setting of the Castelfalfi Castle and verdant countryside.
Members can also practice at the Golf Club's driving range, two putting greens, and an area for chipping and pitching. Individual and group lessons for all ages are available with a professional golfer. Castelfalfi is the home of the largest Youth Club in Tuscany, training children aged 6 to 18 years in a fun and engaging way.
For members looking to satisfy their appetite after a winter's day spent on the green, the Country Clubhouse will also be open throughout the year. The cosy restaurant is located inside a historic yet meticulously restored Tuscan farmhouse, serving quick snacks, lunch and dinner. The menu features favourite Tuscan delicacies with produce grown directly in the kitchen garden at Castelfalfi.
“We are very happy with how the golf season went this year,”, said Manola Alberti, Golf Director of Castelfalfi Golf Club. “We achieved incredible numbers and are thrilled with the feedback we received from our players. Summer is over but we have curated a busy calendar for the autumn and winter. Our Academies are ready and Castelfalfi is transforming into an incredible postcard with the autumn colours. We look forward to welcoming players, old and new, to the course.”
Becoming a member of the Golf Club is like becoming part of a big family. Members of all ages and levels can join and take part in academies suited to all abilities. Whether you prefer to practice your swing in the Country Club House or challenge yourself to the Mountain Course, Castelfalfi is the place to grow a passion for the sport. Registration to join the Golf Club is now officially open for the 2023 season, and new members will have the remaining months of 2022 included in their membership price.

About Castelfalfi
The ancient bastion of Castelfalfi and the 1100-hectare agricultural estate that surrounds it are located equidistant from the Renaissance cities of Pisa and Florence in the rural heart of Tuscany.
The estate, which has been continuously settled and cultivated for over 2,000 years, was originally settled by the Etruscans, before passing variously through the stewardship of Romans, Visigoth warlords, Florentine aristocrats, Milanese merchants and latterly a German holiday company, before captivating the enlightened Indonesian entrepreneur Sri Prakash Lohia. Mr Lohia acquired Castelfalfi in 2021, with the vision of turning the property into a luxury world class organic estate and immersive retreat, which works in harmony with nature and the local community to create a centre of agricultural and culinary excellence, where guests can reconnect both body and spirit with the natural world. Guest accommodation is provided by the 'Toscana Resort Castelfalfi,' a five-star hotel and spa, located across two buildings in the centre of the village with views across the rolling countryside below, and a selection of traditional farmhouses scattered across the estate, structured as single units and apartments, which are available for rent or sale.
