Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, along with sister Frasers Hospitality UK brands, Fraser Suites and Fraser Place are proud to partner with Freda to provide free in-room period products to their guests and within staff toilets.

This partnership makes them the first nationwide accommodation providers to offer period care products as an addition to their in-room amenities, without guests having to ask for them.

A recent poll by natural period care provider Freda confirmed that 100% of respondents wanted to see period products provided as a standard hotel amenity. In response, Malmaison, Hotel du Vin and Frasers Hospitality have stepped up, ensuring period care products are there when needed the most for guests to use, all within arm's reach of toilets.

Complimentary Freda kits will contain one pad and one tampon alongside the brand's other premium brand refillable amenities, which are re-stocked after each stay.

Tracy Gent, Group Director of Sales & Marketing for Malmaison and Hotel du Vin says: “We want to ensure we're there for our guests and colleagues if they're ever caught short by their period. We're taking away barriers to accessing these essentials by ensuring they are within arm's reach and by doing so we're hoping to break down the stigma that is often wrongly associated with periods.”

“We don't feel having a period is something you should have to hide. While attitudes towards menstruation have changed rapidly over the last few years, we want to ensure our guests feel as supported during their stay as if they were at home. We're proud to provide Freda's period products to our guests, further elevating our guest experience. It's our aim to see period products becomes as commonplace in hotel guest bathrooms as toilet paper. We're proud to be the first national hotel chain that has taken this step.”

Guus Bakker, CEO EMEA at Frasers Hospitality says: “By offering Freda's sustainable period products as an addition to our standard amenities, we hope to combat period stigma within the hospitality sector. We want to ensure everyone feels looked after during their stay. We hope that this commitment will set a precedent that will make other hotels and hospitality brands listen up and think about reviewing their own amenity offering to better support their staff and guests.”

“Frasers Hospitality are proud to partner with Freda as their sustainable practices align perfectly with our own drive towards achieving net zero operations by 2050, part of which is ensuring that our guest experiences across the portfolio are as green as they can be”, adds Bakker.

The Freda brand is dedicated to normalising periods, combating period poverty, and championing period inclusivity in a sustainable and responsible manner. Freda's period care products are responsibly made in eco-certified facilities in Sweden using 100% renewable energy with zero waste sent to landfill. Freda also donates a portion of its profits to initiatives dedicated to ending period poverty.

Freda's founder Afsaneh Parvizi-Wayne adds: “We're pleased to partner with Malmaison, Hotel du Vin and Frasers Hospitality to elevate their sustainable amenity offering. We understand that periods are notoriously bad timekeepers, so guests won't always arrive prepared. Through this partnership we'll ensure that nobody is caught short or suffers anxiety, shame or embarrassment around menstruating while staying with Malmaison, Hotel du Vin, and Frasers Hospitality properties.”
