Indesign Media Group Acquires Luxury Travel Media

Luxury Travel

Indesign Media Group has just acquired Luxury Travel Media from previous owner Gary Allen.

The Luxury Travel Media brand caters for those wanting to authentically immerse themselves in each location they visit through bespoke and carefully curated travel experiences. They want to travel responsibly and respectfully and consider the sustainability initiatives of the brands they interact with – on air, land and sea.

The digital-led and print publication celebrates premium content for discerning Australian travellers looking to explore Australian and global destinations.

Indesign Media Group's Managing Director, Kavita Lala has appointed Sydney-based journalist Katrina Holden as editor for the luxury travel brand. Katrina has a wealth of experience in travel media—she was the former editor of Luxury Travel magazine, Vacations & Travel magazine, inflight magazines for REX Airlines, contributing editor to Travel Monitor, and Australian drinks titles, Drinks Trade and National Liquor News.

Katrina has contributed to many domestic and international publications, including The Australian, Escape (The Daily Telegraph), Travel + Leisure Asia, T Magazine Australia (The New York Times style magazine), Delicious, Out & About with Kids and Wine Companion. She has also created and edited content for several Australian tourism boards and worked in-house as a content manager at an international luxury cruise brand.

“Our audience is curious and interested in the provenance, culture and stories behind places, including the local communities and Indigenous people who call them home,” said Katrina.

“Indesign Media's luxury design platforms, Indesign and Habitus, have established a strong connection to the type of traveller Luxury Travel speaks to – driven by exceptional design and forward-thinking sustainability practices,” Kavita said.

“As the founders of Australia's prestigious architecture and design Sustainability Awards, established in 2006, we're excited to draw on our expertise to celebrate and acknowledge the best operators in the luxury travel space who lead the way in eco-tourism and sustainable travel initiatives,” she added.

On why the Group decided to branch out into luxury travel, CEO Raj Nandan said the last few years presented challenges and enormous opportunities for the travel and tourism industry. Savvy luxury travel brands are seizing the moment to make positive, permanent changes to how we travel and interact with other cultures, wildlife and environments.

“Given our strong credentials in shaping the design, architectural and sustainability narrative in Australia and the region, we feel this was a natural extension for our audiences. We felt this was an exciting time to explore the storytelling opportunities in luxury travel,” he explained.

“We aim to give our readers a new kind of digital-rich Luxury Travel brand, publishing a continual flow of intelligent content about travel news, destinations and initiatives in the air, land and sea as told through the lens of people, design and sustainability practices,” he explains further.

The new Luxury Travel magazine will roll out fresh content from this month, with the first print issue coming out in the next quarter.
