Tourists and visitors to the Dead Sea region will now be able to follow a new tourism initiative entitled The Lowest Route in the World and enjoy an even more meaningful, authentic and experiential visit to this, the lowest place in the world. The project, a collaboration between the three regional councils in the area, makes the Dead Sea Land more accessible for visitors and tourists, with the ability to plan and map an independent route for individuals, families and groups to various attractions and sites, based on their interests.

The Lowest Route in the World is an ongoing narrative route along the entire length of the Dead Sea region, that showcases vetted and approved tourism service providers known as “ambassadors” to create an optimal guest experience. Tourism content related to the route can be accessed via a dedicated platform in various languages on the Dead Sea Land website, under the heading Ambassadors of the Lowest Route in the World.  There, the traveller can build for himself a road story that allows him to meet locals or ambassadors, and read about historical figures or ambassadors. In addition, he can find information about nature reserves and points of interest in the area.

Visitors will be able to collect a novelty Dead Sea Land passport from the ambassadors which can be “stamped” as they visit other ambassadors along the route. The traveller will be able to map the places he would like to visit, including times and distances, and even coordinate his arrival in advance and stay with the route ambassadors.

It is hoped that the development of the Lowest Route in the World, and its recognition as an international tourism brand, will lead to increased tourism traffic in the area, both international and domestic, similar to global tourist routes such as: Mont Blanc (Switzerland), Camino de Santiago Cross-Israel Trail and more.
