Brook Meadow Camping

It may not be in a honeypot location. It may not yet have been on the national glamping and camping travel map. But, thanks to Brook Meadow being announced a finalist in the 'Camping, Glamping and Holiday Park of the Year' category in the Visit England Awards of Excellence, 2022, this could all be about to change next month – and deservedly so.

Whilst Brook Meadow, along with fellow finalists Secret Meadows, Suffolk and Landal Sandybrook, Derbyshire won't know the ultimate category winner until 8th June, what makes a camping, glamping and self-catering site in, er, rural Leicestershire, just 8 miles from the M1, stand out from the crowd?

In what can easily be described as 'a modern-day makeover', it's only been since 2018, when daughter Claire joined her parent's Mary and Jasper in transforming the 30-year-old, 20-acre lakeside campsite near Sibbertoft on the Leicestershire / Northamptonshire border that the business and its fortunes have been transformed.

Since then, and particularly over lockdown, Claire (an architect and interior designer) has set about creating a glamping and camping site for the post-pandemic holidaymaker.

Here's just some of the reasons why Brook Meadow is now one of the UK's best.

Outstanding Accommodation

Whilst the site accommodates grass pitches (electric and non-electric) for camping, hardstanding electric pitches for caravans and luxury fishing pitches, it's the new self-catering one-time fishing lodges which have been transformed into individually designed and decorated luxury lodges sleeping between 4 and 6 which have added the 'wow' factor.  There's also Nuthatch, a fabulously boho lakeside cabin and a safari bell tent, Sunbird.

New for 2022, is a vintage airstream, Silverbird (sleeping 2) and Marabou, a two -storey safari tent, arguably the most glamourous on the UK travel market with chandeliers and bath. sleeping 8.

Ace add-ons

From launching 'Moovie nights' (regular, free of charge open air cinema nights during peak season) in the cowshed to arranging regular pizza van and fish and chip deliveries, a shop, the ability to collect your own eggs, play in an organic playground (fallen trees, pond dipping, grass circles to run around on, rope swing over lake), Brook Meadow have it covered. The site also offers extras such as breakfast, cream tea or bakery hampers, a private chef (fine dining and/or Japanese).

Centrally located

Surrounded by 400 acres of arable farmland, with a 5-acre fishing lake on site, it's hard to believe that Brook Farm, Sibbertoft is just 8 miles from the M1, 5 miles from the A 14 and 12 miles from the M6. How handy is that?

Commitment to Sustainability and the Environment

As a third-generation family farm which has been in the Hart family since 1913, the current Brook Meadow owners are passionate about wildlife conservation and environmental issues. From planting 50 acres of trees, creating a 5-acre lake to attract wildlife and birds, generating 50% of the electricity used on site; harvesting rainwater, sourcing food locally, planting 300 metres of native hedging around the camping area and building an organic, 'natural' play area, Brook Meadow is 'walking the walk' when it comes to its dedication to sustainability. Accessibility

All accommodation has ramped access, including the fishing lodge with two family bathrooms and wheelchair friendly washing up area; there's an accessible WC and wet room in the communal wash room, level access and wheelchair access to the washing up facilities. Click here for more information.

Action-packed days out

From a quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, off-roading 'Avalanche Adventures' operator just half a mile away on Brook Meadow Farm, to a 'Mini Meadows' petting farm just 3 miles away, there's a huge amount of things to see and do in the local area. Click here to see more.

Whatever the outcome of the Visit England Awards of Excellence 2022 on June 8th, Brook Meadow should be a must-visit this summer!
