We're honored and proud to share that AFAR Deputy Editor Katherine LaGrave was voted Travel Journalist of the Year and AFAR magazine won Bronze for Travel Magazines in the annual Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Competition. Judges praised how LaGrave makes every word count, including her use of humor in a story about visiting the center of North America and “scenes bursting with description and anecdotes” in a feature on a nonprofit resort for critically ill children.
“Katherine does some of the most exhaustive travel reporting and vivid storytelling of anyone I've read,” says AFAR Digital Content Director Laura Dannen Redman. “She inspires, guides, and empowers travelers by bringing places to life through best-in-class journalism."
Congratulations to LaGrave, Redman, AFAR VP and Editor in Chief Julia Cosgrove, AFAR Deputy Editor Aislyn Greene, and the entire AFAR editorial team!
