My Christmas Trails

A brand new after dark Christmas illuminated trail will be bringing festive sparkle to the garden at the National Trust's Killerton, near Exeter, from 26 Nov 2021 – 2 Jan 2022.

A magical trail, featuring spectacular lighting set to a soundtrack of favourite seasonal tunes, will transform the estate's landscaped grounds and gardens.

Visitors will be able to make memories as they discover sparkling tunnels of light, walk under giant baubles and beneath trees drenched in jewel-like colour. They can get into the festive feeling watching the flickering flames in the fire garden, gaze at the specially chosen illuminations and glimpse Father Christmas along the way.

Independent street food vendors will bring a delicious twist to tasty treats on offer, *toasted marshmallows, including festive hot drinks like a *spiced winter warmer or *hot chocolate, shared with someone special.

Tim Harris, Visitor Operations & Experience Manager said, “We're really excited about bringing the new trail this Christmas. We're hoping that our visitors will have a great time and enjoy getting festive with the sparkling displays lighting up this much-loved local estate."

About Killerton

Once home to the Acland family, Killerton is an estate set in 6,400 acres of working farmland, woods, parkland, cottages and orchards. Sir Richard Acland gave the estate to the National Trust in 1944. Today, you'll find a friendly Georgian house set in glorious gardens with champion trees and formal lawns. You can explore winding paths, visit the chapel, climb an extinct volcano, discover an Iron Age hill fort and take in distant views towards Dartmoor. The attraction is open daily (except Christmas Day) and has ample parking, café, family activities and shop.

About the National Trust

The National Trust is a conservation charity founded in 1895 by three people: Octavia Hill, Sir Robert Hunter and Hardwicke Rawnsley, who saw the importance of the nation's heritage and open spaces and wanted to preserve them for everyone to enjoy. Today, across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, we continue to look after places so people and nature can thrive.

The challenges of the coronavirus pandemic have shown this is more important than ever. From finding fresh air and open skies to tracking a bee's flight to a flower; from finding beauty in an exquisite painting or discovering the hidden history of a country house nearby - the places we care for enrich people's lives.

Entirely independent of Government, the National Trust looks after more than 250,000 hectares of countryside, 780 miles of coastline and 500 historic properties, gardens and nature reserves.

The National Trust is for everyone - we were founded for the benefit of the whole nation. We receive on average more than 26.9 million visits each year to the places we care for that have an entry fee, and an estimated 100m visits to the outdoor places that are free of charge. Paying visitors, together with our 5.6 million members and more than 53,000 volunteers, support our work to care for nature, beauty, history. For everyone, for ever.
