The Rooney's, The Beckham's, Jesy Nelson plus other celebrity staycation hotspots revealed

  • Cornwall is a top spot for Rochelle Humes and Jesy Nelson, while the Rooneys favour a North Wales getaway
  • Gordon Ramsay has invested in property in Cornwall, whilst the Beckhams have a home in the Cotswolds
  • Holiday like a star in these top UK locations

Searches for staycations have shot up 384% since January1, and with international travel still up in the air, UK holidays are once again set to be incredibly popular.

And like the rest of us, celebrities will also be forced to ditch the Maldives and the Bahamas for the likes of Cornwall and North Wales. For those seeking inspiration, UK holiday home park operator, Park Leisure has looked into the holiday habits of celebs, and the most desirable UK locations for a summer getaway.

Cornwall

Cornwall is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the UK, so it's no surprise that it's equally popular amongst the rich and famous.

Among the celebrities with a home in the county is celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay2, who actually owns several homes in the region, including the one pictured above.

Singer, Peter Andre, has also visited the county with his family, where they enjoyed surfing and catching crabs on the Cornish coast, whilst Strictly Come Dancing star, AJ Pritchard, and his brother Curtis were spotted exploring the beautiful sights of the region3

Popstars, Rochelle Humes and Jesy Nelson, as well as Loose Women presenter, Stacey Solomon, and actress, Nadia Sawalha, are amongst the other stars who've holidayed in Cornwall with their families in the last year4

For those looking for an affordable location to take in the stunning surroundings, Park Leisure operates three holiday home parks in Cornwall, at Pentire, Par Sands and Oyster Bay, where holidaymakers and owners can enjoy the best Cornwall has to offer, including quick and convenient access to the coast.

Cornwall is a fantastic place for a UK holiday, with a beautiful coastline, offering some of the best beaches in the country, picturesque fishing towns and villages, and local attractions, such as the Eden Project, the beautiful Trebah Gardens and Tintagel Castle, where King Arthur supposedly ruled.

North Wales

As another option, the rugged natural beauty of North Wales is known for attracting its share of A-list visitors. For example, football star, Wayne Rooney and his wife Coleen, have holidayed in the region numerous times, including at a luxury resort near Abersoch8

Ant and Dec were also treated to a luxury stay in the region whilst filming the 2020 season of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! They stayed in a £1,000 a week cottage in Penmaenmawr, near Conwy9

North Wales has seen many other celebs holidaying in the region, including Hollywood stars. Actor, Andrew Lincoln and his wife Gael Anderson, visited Snowdonia to surf at the Conwy Valley Lagoon. Good Morning Britain presenter, Kate Garraway, also visited the region with her family and friends, where they had “an amazing seaside adventure” near Abersoch10.

The region has also seen royal residents, as Prince William and Kate chose to start their married life living in a cottage on the island of Anglesey11.

Park Leisure operates two holiday parks in North Wales, at Brynteg and Plas Coch, offering cost efficient luxury accommodation as a base to enjoy the stunning environment. Visitors are able to enjoy convenient access to the rugged scenery of Snowdonia, as well as the beautiful coast of Anglesey.

North Wales is an amazing getaway, especially for hikers and those who enjoy the outdoors. Whether you want to climb mountains in Snowdonia, visit medieval castles like Conwy or experience the thrill of Europe's longest zipline, North Wales has a lot to offer.

Devon

Just along the coast from Cornwall is another popular county, with Devon also proving to be a common holiday destination for celebs.

Among the stars who own a home in the county is property guru, Kirstie Allsopp5, whilst model and TV personality, Kelly Brook6, is amongst the celebs who visited the region last summer.

Devon has a lot to offer for any visitor, whether you want to sunbathe on the beaches of the Jurassic Coast whilst the kids look for fossils, take walks in Exmoor and Dartmoor, or visit quaint coastal towns like Brixham.

The Cotswolds

From one beauty spot to another, the Cotswolds are also very popular with the rich and famous, with stars like the Beckhams and TV presenter, Amanda Holden, owning holiday retreats in the area7

The Cotswolds offer beautiful scenery, historic towns and villages such as Bidbury and Cirencester, and great day trips, including the beautiful city of Bath.

Lisa Williams, Director of Marketing and Holiday Sales at Park Leisure, said: “We're so lucky that the UK has so many incredible holiday destinations, and you can tell how popular they are due to the frequent visits by celebrities, as well as the stars choosing to invest in holiday homes here.

“With uncertainty around holidays abroad, there really has never been a better time to explore the beauty of the UK.

“At Park Leisure, we have 11 holiday home parks in stunning locations across the country. As well as the beautiful spots in Cornwall and Wales, we also offer affordable properties in Yorkshire, Herefordshire, Lancashire and Northumberland, as well as short stays at five of our parks.”
