The Langham, Melbourne Celebrates Mother's Day In Sky-High Style

The Langham, Melbourne

April 2021…. While we might not be spending as much time in the sky, there's no reason we can't celebrate from a great height. For the first time ever, The Langham, Melbourne will host an afternoon tea from the hotel's exclusive club lounge on level 24.

After a turbulent year, more than ever, mums deserve to be spoiled. To make up for what may have been a lacklustre Mother's Day in 2020, The Langham, Melbourne has doubled down and created an experience that pairs spectacular views of the Yarra River and Flinders Street Station with a carefully curated menu matched with exquisite Champagnes.

The menu features Yarra Valley caviar that's been infused with Four Pillars' famous Bloody Shiraz gin and served with crème fraîche, chives and blinis, a king crab, avocado, mustard pickle, sour cream with red sorrel sandwich served in a freshly-baked brioche roll, delicate triple decker cucumber finger sandwiches, a prawn sandwich with samphire, capers and radish, Tasmanian smoked salmon and herb cream cheese on a miniature bagel plus a festive roasted turkey open-faced sandwich with cranberries.

Those with a sweet tooth will savour an almost equal mix of three citrus and fruity pastries and an indulgent trio of chocolate dishes. Executive pastry chef, Markus Bohm's take on cheesecake is made with quark cheese and sits on a base made of wattleseed and macadamia Génoise while a custard tart is amped up with confit pineapple and Hawaiian black salt.

Plus, guests will be served an heirloom tomato galette with goat's cheese and a duck foie gras tart with an aromatic house-made vincotto onion chutney and the hotel's famous fluffy, freshly-baked scones served with a choice of lemon curd, rhubarb, strawberry and vanilla preserve and Chantilly cream.

This decadent afternoon tea is being served for one weekend only on Saturday 8 May and Sunday 9 May at 2pm. Guests can choose to enjoy the afternoon tea accompanied by a glass of Louis Roederer for $169.00 per adult or opt for an afternoon tea teamed with a glass of 2012 Cristal for $199.00 per adult.

This sophisticated event is designed for mothers and their adult daughters to celebrate Mother's Day.
