Catalan Tourist Board
  • A new Turisme de Barcelona programme, together with the Barcelona Provincial Council, offers a wide range of products and specific services for a new emerging market.
  • A workation experience in Barcelona allows travellers to live like a local in the city while also being able to explore all the attractions Catalonia has to offer.

Turisme de Barcelona and the Barcelona Provincial Council have launched the Barcelona Workation programme to attract digital nomads, freelancers, and digital professionals. The programme gives professionals the opportunity to work and live like a local in Barcelona, with a specially prepared accommodation offer as well as a great range of special deals on cultural and leisure activities. Furthermore, it can also be interesting to families who want a new experience for them and their children in a foreign country.

In terms of location, it offers two options: an urban experience in the city of Barcelona; or a rural or coastal experience in the neighbouring towns and villages of Costa Barcelona and Barcelona Landscapes. The dynamic transport network and connectivity of the region of Barcelona make it easy to complement the experience with visits to different regions of Catalonia. For example, the famous towns and beaches of Costa Brava and Costa Daurada are only an hour away by train, and there are direct road connections to the Pyrenees.

With daily flights from the UK and Ireland, Barcelona is the perfect destination to combine work and leisure time. The region has been always a centre of attraction for artists, writers, and visionaries, and is currently an important hub for entrepreneurs and start-ups. Making it a versatile destination, with first level infrastructure, a mild climate, a vibrant culture, and a mature tourist offer.

Under the slogan “Move your desk. Change your Life” and the hashtag #WorkfromBarcelona the new programme promotes and offers guidance on:

  1. Accommodation options already preselected and offered in a new hotel search platform.
  2. Medical Insurance options in the destination for the duration of the stay.
  3. Special agreements with clubs, sports entities, co-workings, transportation providers, etc.
  4. The Barcelona Card Workation to access the cultural and leisure offer in Barcelona.

So, move your desk, change your life… and work from Barcelona!
