Trevornick Holiday Park in North Cornwall has seen a surge of enquiries for summer getaways.
The five-star park, which is located in the picturesque Holywell Bay just south of Newquay, has temporarily halted camping bookings and opened a waiting list for July and August while it holds out for clear guidance from the government.
Trevornick is a family-run site which has been welcoming visitors for more than half a century. It is now one of Cornwall’s premier parks having just completed work on the first phase of Gull Rocks; luxury lodges complete with hot tubs and dramatic sea views.
“We have been overwhelmed with the number of enquiries we’ve been receiving in recent days and we’re looking forward to being able to welcome visitors back as soon as it’s safe to do so,” said Robert Hartley, Trevornick’s owner.
“Initially we would plan to open our self-catering cottages, private lodges and static caravans for families to enjoy a staycation in a safe environment and we do still have some very limited availability for these.
“The site is already close to full capacity on just camping reservations for July and August and we’ve had to put a temporary hold on bookings while we look at the best ways to safely open our camping fields and facilities again with new social distancing and additional hygiene measures in place.
“Although we have plenty of space, and our pitches are more generous than most sites, we will have to consider creating even larger socially distanced pitches that will reduce down our capacity for the summer,”he added.
Trevornick’s popular onsite golf course, Holywell Bay Golf, has already re-opened its par 3 and pitch & putt course to members and local families who are taking advantage of the sunshine and extra leisure time, whilst enjoying stunning views overlooking Holywell Bay beach.
As well as expanding the range of guest accommodation and facilities over the years, the family has also developed a passion for sustainability and many aspects of the park have transformed with this in mind. Trevornick was one of the first holiday parks in Cornwall to install flooring made from recycled plastic straws around their pool and lodges.
The Park’s proximity to the beautiful Holywell Bay Beach, as well as its location beside the spectacular coastal path makes it a perfect destination for families looking for an Indian Summer staycation destination or an early getaway option for 2021.
