My Christmas Trails

An enchanting, after dark, illuminated Christmas trail for all the family

Explore a spectacular new Christmas light trail at Stourhead, from 29th Nov – 30th Dec 2019.

A magical mile long trail, showcasing incredible light installations and enchanting visitors with classical Christmas tunes, will transform the Garden at National Trust property, Stourhead.

Brought to you by leading events producer Raymond Gubbay Limited, a division of Sony Music, experience Stourhead's famous garden like never before as the tree-tops glisten and the garden shimmers and sparkles.

It's definitely the most wonderful time of the year to wander beneath exquisite tree canopies suffused in seasonal colour and dripping with shards of light, frosty snowflakes, stars and baubles.

As you walk through the Tunnel of Light festooned with over 100,000 pea-lights, the melodious voices of the Singing Trees can be heard in the distance. Glowing blossom rises high into the night sky and twinkling hedgerows lead you on a path towards thousands of illuminated lights on the ever-changing Fibre Optic Lawn. Stroll towards the lake and marvel at the waterside reflections on its shimmering surface.

There are hidden surprises too – step inside the Laser Garden and linger at the scented Fire Garden for a moment of reflection. Have a holly, jolly Christmas and complete your festive walk under the stars with spiced cider, mulled wine or hot chocolate*.

Gather around the fire-pit with family and friends to toast marshmallows* and end the evening browsing Stourhead's well-stocked gift shop.  Why not pick up some treats for the journey home? For the young ones in all of us there are traditional Victorian fairground rides* and don't forget to keep an eye out for Father Christmas and his elves along the way.

About Stourhead
Stourhead is a Palladian house and world-famous landscape garden. When it first opened in the 1740s, a magazine described it as 'a living work of art'. The world-famous landscape garden has at its centrepiece a magnificent lake reflecting classical temples, mystical grottoes, and rare and exotic trees, and offers a day of adventure.

The history of Stourhead can be uncovered in the house with its unique Regency library, Chippendale furniture and inspirational paintings.

The Palladian house is set amid 'picnic perfect' lawns and extensive parkland (2,650 acres), where chalk downs, ancient woods and farmland are managed for wildlife.

About the National Trust

The National Trust is a conservation charity founded in 1895 by three people who saw the importance of our nation's heritage and open spaces, and wanted to preserve them for everyone to enjoy.  More than 120 years later, these values are still at the heart of everything the charity does.

Entirely independent of Government, the National Trust looks after more than 250,000 hectares of countryside, 780 miles of coastline and hundreds of special places across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

More than 26 million people visit every year, and together with 5.2 million members and over 61,000 volunteers, they help to support the charity in its work to care for special places for ever, for everyone.
