Lancaster, Pa. [July 11, 2019] – Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square and developer Penn Square Partners announce today a key development in its $39.4 million renovation and expansion project to offer its guests an enhanced guest experience where historic Lancaster charm meets modern sophistication. The new “East Tower” is officially complete, meeting Lancaster City's increased demand for hotel rooms and dining experiences amidst the city's growing reputation as a hip destination for travelers and conventions. Redefining Lancaster City's skyline, the 12-story East Tower adds an additional 110 guest rooms, new private event spaces with outdoor access and a signature Marriott M Club Lounge to the central downtown property. The completion of the East Tower also marks the beginning of a series of beautifications to Lancaster Marriott's 18-story West Tower.
With the addition of the 87,000 square-foot East Tower, the Lancaster Marriott property will soon be home to 416 guest rooms upon the full property renovation completion this fall. Each of the new 100 guest rooms and 10 “City Suites” in the East Tower feature advanced amenity offerings, sweeping views of Lancaster City from floor-to-ceiling glass windows and sleek design features for ultimate guest relaxation and convenience. Amenities include luxury vinyl tile, stand up showers, backlit mirrors in the bathroom, 55-inch TV's and a “relaxation corner” complete with a small sofa couch and table. Likewise, all double rooms feature two queen-sized beds for maximum comfort.
The upcoming West Tower beautification will reconfigure the 6th and 7th floor junior suites into six spacious guest rooms; convert the 18th floor Concierge Room to the new Ambassador Suite; replace 70 percent of guest room bathtubs with showers; and upgrade all guest room amenities to mirror those at the East Tower.
“Once complete, there will be a seamless design throughout our two towers creating a brand-new guest experience,” comments Jay Rosenthal, General Manager at Lancaster Marriott. “We've tailored our guest rooms to meet each guest's individual needs, while they simultaneously experience a taste of Lancaster's culture. We hope each guest leaves our hotel having fallen in love with our town the same way we have.”
The Lancaster Marriott's East Tower expansion and West Tower beautification signify the property's dedication to Lancaster City's growth and prosperity.
“The upgraded facility and increase in hotel rooms available at the Lancaster Marriott will play a vital role in drawing more meetings, conventions and special events to the adjoining Lancaster County Convention Center, which celebrates its 10-year anniversary this June 2019,” says Mark Fitzgerald, President and COO of Penn Square Partners. “We look forward to another decade of continued growth and development as Lancaster City further progresses not only as a premiere meetings and conventions center, but also a leisure travel destination.”
In addition to being one of the region's premier convention and special event destinations, the Lancaster Marriott is amongst a culinary mecca for visitors and locals alike. Adjacent to the hotel and Lancaster County Convention Center will soon be Lancaster City's newest modern-American restaurant Plough, featuring a menu that celebrates Lancaster's rich cultural roots while embracing a new era of modernity. Twelve stories above the historic Penn Square will sit The Exchange, a lively rooftop bar showcasing panoramic views of Lancaster City and offering an extensive cocktail-driven menu alongside thoughtful wine, local beer selections and expertly prepared shareable plates. Both restaurants are slated to open Summer 2019.
Exclusive to Lancaster Marriott hotel guests and only a handful of additional U.S. Marriott properties, Lancaster Marriott will soon debut a signature Marriott M Club Lounge, providing rewards member guests a space to retreat, recharge and refocus at all hours of the day. Given 24/7 access with their M Club key, guests of the M Club Lounge can enjoy complimentary upgraded food choices, such as evening appetizers, Starbucks drip coffee, grab & go offerings and more, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi access, wireless printing and lounge furniture featuring built-in-charging stations. Lancaster Marriott's M Club Lounge will debut mid-July.
Daily breakfast offerings will also soon be found at Two Kings, a cozy new dining corner for locals and hotel guests alike to kick-start their morning. Two Kings can also be converted into a special event space for small parties, inclusive of both indoor and outdoor seating along King Street.
“Lancaster City has received national acclaim for its surge of independent food and beverage concepts within the past few years,” explains Josh Nowak, Director of Sales & Marketing, Lancaster Marriott. “We're extremely excited for our guests to have the city's best dining options at their doorstep, while also having private, sophisticated options for our hotel guests that showcase Lancaster as a premier travel and dining destination.”
