The Best Beachside Boltholes in Norfolk This Summer

Norfolk Cottages

From Hunstanton (aka 'Sunny Hunny'), the only eastern coastal resort which faces west to Great Yarmouth in the East, Norfolk's coastline (over 80 miles of it) boasts some of the best beaches in the country and is an understandable holiday hotspot, drawing staycationers to enjoy its big skies, dry climate and good weather.

As the largest leading independent holiday lettings agency in the county and with over 550 properties countywide, from beach huts and cutesy cottages in Wells-next-the-Sea or and Blakeney Georgian townhouses in Cromer and vast, luxuriously converted barns for large groups, Norfolk Cottages have cherry picked their favourite beachside boltholes this summer.

Fabulous holidays? Normal for Norfolk!

Sea Salt, Overstrand

Sleeps 5 in 3 bedrooms

Price from £849 per week

The views are, in a word, breathtaking and you won't find more a more inspirational seascape along the North Norfolk coast. Although all of Sea Salt, an Art Deco-style building built in the '60's but lovingly modernised and refurbished, has the 'wow' factor, it's the wrap around glass windows in the master bedroom which means you can watch the sun rise without leaving the king size – even the en-suite shower has views. Watch the fishermen as they harvest crabs and lobsters before buying them fresh from the clifftop shop. A word of warning, though. So close is the property to the coast, venture further than the enclosed garden walls and you're straight to the cliff edge.

Two, the Crescent, Cromer

Sleeps 11 guests in 6 bedrooms

Price from £1067 per week

Is this the finest holiday home in Cromer? Having featured as a Sunday Times Top 20 holiday cottages 2015, One of Norfolk Life's Top 10 Great Getaway properties 2017 and Norfolk Life featured Property July 2018, the answer, according to the media at least, is a resounding 'yes'. Situated on a private cul-de-sac literally two minutes from both the beach and the shop, the huge windows of this impeccably styled and furnished Georgian home provide uninterrupted, 360-degree views. A must for large groups!

Boat Barn Cottage, Blakeney

Sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms, 1 pet allowed

Price from £1,481 per week

The town's famous for its crabbing, its quay and as a starting point to visit one of the largest seal populations in the UK, but even if you're not yet aware of perennial favourite, Blakeney's charms, step inside this house and you'll be converted. Oak beaks and vaulted ceilings, wooden panelling, uber stylish kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and a glass door view over the courtyard garden and outdoor seating. And, built in traditional brick and flint, this new holiday home in quintessentially 'Norfolk'. Our favourite? The master suite at the top of the house gives views across the salt marshes to the sea.

The Penthouse, Hunstanton

Sleeps 2 in 1 bedroom

Price from £405 per week

A new property in an elevated position means this aptly named second-floor apartment has both sea views – and summer availability. It's certainly a romantic couple's retreat, with an opulent window seat to view 'Sunny Hunny's beach from, a sumptuously furnished king-sized bed and a sink-deep slipper bath. Modern, sunny (of course!) and light-filled, enjoy the best of Hunstanton from this bijou bolthole

The Cattle Shed, Wighton

Sleeps 10 in 4 bedrooms, 2 pets

Price form £1650 per week

If luxury is what you're looking for, you can stop searching now: The Cattle Shed, a brand new holiday let, formerly a, you guessed it, cattle shed, has been lovingly transformed with no expense spared. Uber stylish, with oak beamed vaulted ceilings and open plan to suit larger groups, Kids will love sleeping in (and having midnight feasts in) the bespoke bunk beds, four in one room, whilst adults can cook up a storm in the DeVol kitchen with Oroco work tops. Just a few miles from Wells-next-the-Sea, Holkham Hall and Blakeney Nature Reserve, the property is ideally located, too.
