Luxury safari specialists Sanctuary Retreats have completed a major transformation of their portfolio of camps and lodges in Africa. The extensive investment programme is complete with the new secluded ultra-luxury Geoffrey Kent suite at Sanctuary Olonana now open. Properties across the portfolio including those in Kenya, Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania and Uganda have all been remodelled, offering guests the chance to re-connect with wildlife in natural yet contemporary and stylish settings.
New Geoffrey Kent Suite at Sanctuary Olonana, Kenya in 2019:
Flagship Sanctuary Retreats' property Sanctuary Olonana has just opened a newly built secluded luxurious suite. The Geoffrey Kent suite has two en-suite bedrooms each complete with freestanding bathtubs, one additional connecting bedroom for children, a wraparound private decking area and infinity pool overlooking the Mara river. With floor to ceiling windows, a private lounge and dining area, dedicated vehicle and guide as well as a private chef and housekeeper, the suite offers a secluded haven in the heart of the Masai Mara.
This additional suite completes the rebuild of Sanctuary Olonana which is an exceptional luxury lodge showcasing modern design blended with a distinct traditional African style. The new-look Sanctuary Olonana offers 14 glass-sided suites and every aspect of the new lodge maximises the wilderness experience for guests by bringing a sense of the magnificent outdoors inside.
Expansion and Permanent Star Baths at Sanctuary Baines' Camp, Botswana
Sanctuary Baines' Camp, the smallest of the Sanctuary Retreats properties in Africa now has six luxurious suites with the addition of one new suite in 2019 alongside a contemporary redesign and remodeling of the current suites. The deck area of each suite has been considerably extended including a shaded area and the popular Star Bath is now a permanent feature on the deck of each suite.
New Family Rooms and Redesign at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero, Botswana
This riverside retreat on the edge of Chobe National Park is home to the world's largest remaining population of elephants. Relaunched with 15 stunning suites scattered across the lush green lawns all offering the perfect blend of modern design and distinct traditional African finishes with comfortable beds, generous freestanding baths and rain showers. There's a full-service spa, with a unique tree-top treatment room, offers pampering for the body and the mind with a range of treatments and rituals to restore and revitalize as well as a split-level swimming pool for refreshment and gentle exercise as well as a fully equipped new gym.
Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp, Tanzania
Work at this Tanzania based camp in the Ngorongoro Crater Rim Valley included the replacement of the ten classic safari tents offering a more contemporary feel with restyled interiors and updated en-suite bathrooms. There's also a new lounge area and dining room surrounded by wraparound decking which is raised to offer panoramic views. The camp which is located very close to the crater floor access road allows for quick and easy access for early morning crater safaris.

New look boutique camps and lodges have also been unveiled at Sanctuary Stanley's Camp and Sanctuary Chief's Camp in Botswana, Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma in Zambia, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp in Uganda and in Tanzania's Sanctuary Swala, Sanctuary Kichakani Migration Camp and Sanctuary Kusini.
Extensive investment across these camps includes new luxury enlarged canvas tents with their own decks and deluxe ensuite bathroom at Sanctuary Stanley's Camp, remodeled Sussi treehouses at Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma which now offer riverfront terraces as well as freestanding baths and gym boxes and the new and exclusive Sanctuary Kichakani Serengeti Camp which offers ten luxury tents which can be packed up and moved along to follow the migration.
