Jetwing Lighthouse, the iconic luxury hotel in the tropical southern province of Sri Lanka, will close in May 2019 for a full refurbishment. The refurb will cost £2million and is expected to take 3 months.  

63 of the original rooms designed by Geoffrey Bawa - the most influential Asian architect – will be revamped, a new pool will be installed along the first-floor rooms adjoining the ocean, plus plans to increase the massive 125kw solar energy and the installation of a bio-gas plant will sustain Jetwing's reputation as leading pioneers of sustainable tourism and green innovation. Jetwing Lighthouse Club, the sister hotel and separate wing to Jetwing Lighthouse, will be merged to create one property.

Situated in southern capital of Galle, Jetwing Lighthouse is synonymous with the heritage of the south of the island, sought-out by romantics due to its breath-taking hilltop position boasting spectacular views of the Indian Ocean.  

Jetwing Lighthouse is also the ideal gateway for the endless adventures in and around the southern province, revered for its blue seas and sunny beaches. A variety of explorations to please nature lovers, families and children:

Galle Fort – the most notable 'must-see' in the South, fortified in the 17th century by Dutch colonial forces, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is characterised by its charming labyrinth of cobblestone lanes filled with boutiques, restaurants, and other architectural wonders that make it one of the most photogenic places on the island.

Sea Shore Trail - walk along the sandstone reefs and rock pools by the hotel shores, with insights into marine life from Jetwing's resident naturalist. A fun activity perfect for children. 

Deep Sea Fishing - get your catch of the day with a local fisherman who knows the best spots in the southern seas.
