Catalonia's 'The Route of Fate' Wins World's Best Tourism Film Prize at CIFFT Festival

At the 29th edition of the CIFFT festival (International Committee of Tourist Film Festivals), 'La Ruta de l'Atzar' (The Route of Fate in English) beat 3,000 competitors from a hundred countries to win the title of "World's Best Tourism Film". 

The Director General of Tourism, Octavi Bono, picked up the award at a ceremony held in the Austrian capital of Vienna on Tuesday, 13 November. 

Commissioned by the Catalan Tourism Agency and produced by the Charles Barcelona advertising agency, this video is part of a Catalan government campaign to mark the Year of Cultural Tourism. (2018 has been designated by the European Commission as the European Year of Cultural Heritage.)

The film highlights a series of cultural routes and experiences across Catalonia.

'La Ruta de l'Atzar' has also won awards for best tourism film at international festivals held this year in Germany, Latvia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Catalonia, the Czech Republic and Portugal.
